LAKESHORE RECORDS TO RELEASE THE BACK-UP PLAN ORIGINAL SCORE

Original Music Composed by Stephen Trask

(March 30, 2010- Los Angeles, CA) – Lakeshore Records will release The Back-Up Plan Original Score available digitally (iTunes and Amazon Digital) and in stores on April 20, 2010. Stephen Trask (The Savages, Cirque du Freak: The Vampire’s Assistant).

Stephen Trask first came to notice as the co-creator/composer/lyricist of the award winning stage musical Hedwig and the Angry Inch, named to the 1998 Best of Theater list in Time Magazine (the top musical). In addition he appeared in both the stage version, and later the film version of the show. Trask won an Obie Award, the Outer Critics Circle Award for Outstanding Off-Broadway Musical, two GLAAMA awards and the soundtrack was selected Entertainment Weekly Best Soundtrack Award for 2001. In addition, he received Drama Desk nominations for Outstanding Music, Lyrics, and New Musical and a Grammy nomination for Best Cast Album.

Since 2003, Trask has been scoring films both on the independent and studio level for such diverse directors as Bill Condon (Dreamgirls), Robert Benton (Feast of Love), Tom McCarthy (Station Agent), Paul Weitz (In Good Company, American Dreamz, Cirque du Freak: The Vampire’s Assistant), Todd Graff (Camp), Tamara Jenkins (The Savages), Jon Kasdan (In the Land of Women), and Sean Anders (Sex Drive). His next film will be the upcoming Meet The Fockers Sequel.

The Back-Up Plan is a comedy that explores dating, love, marriage and family “in reverse.” After years of dating, Zoe has decided waiting for the right one is taking too long. Determined to become a mother, she commits to a plan, makes an appointment and decides to go it alone. On the day of her artificial insemination, Zoe meets Stan - a man with real possibilities. Trying to nurture a budding relationship and hide the early signs of pregnancy becomes a comedy of errors for Zoe and creates confusing signals for Stan. When Zoe nervously reveals the reason for her unpredictable behavior, Stan commits fully and says he's in. Never before has love seen a courtship where a wild night of sex involves three in a bed - Stan, Zoe and the ever-present massive pregnancy pillow. Or, where 'date night' consists of being the 'focal point' at a near-stranger's water birth which does for kiddie pools what "Jaws" did for swimming in the ocean.

The real pregnancy test comes when both of them realize they really don't know each other outside of hormonal chaos and birth preparations. With the nine month clock ticking, both begin to experience cold feet. Anyone can fall in love, get married and have a baby but doing it backwards in hyper-drive could be proof positive that they were made for each other.

CBS Films and Escape Artists present The Back-Up Plan in theaters on April 23, 2010. The Back-Up Plan original score on Lakeshore Records will be available on April 20, 2010.
