Because Disney realizes that new and immature actors/actresses are much cheaper than animation. That's why they cancelled all the animation/cartoon productions, including Kim Possible, Lilo and Stitch, and American Dragon Jake Long; they moved on too comedy instead, such as Zack and Cody, Hannah Montana, Wizards of Waverly place, etc. If anda turn on Disney now, there are full of comedies, but very little animation. But if we can fight for a new season of American Dragon, they would still consider our proposal, cause they're doing it for us, the fans.

The plot isn't just about jake and rose though. anda can see Rose only appears in 8 episodes out of 31 episodes of season 2. There are other things going on in the series too, but the one that you'll remember the most is probably Jake and Rose. American Dragon isn't entirely focused around their love, but around Jake, where Rose happens to be part of it. :)
