the reason i'm asking is because i do....mostly because it's the only good american anime....but there's a big Debat about whether it should count atau not because of the fact tht it's american...and i wanna kno ur thoughts on the debate. Rawak Zutara pic!
Oh my god! It's NOT an anime! Anime is JAPANESE! The definition of Anime is: "Anime are Japanese Kartun and computer animation" just because some American Kartun look kind of like Anime doesn't mean we automatically stick the "anime" label on them. The people who made Avatar DIDN'T try and make it anime. They fully thought of it as American. Let's keep it that way.
in my personal lexicon (ignoring the literal translation of the word anime), Anime is strictly from Japan. but i might call something that is inspired sejak Japanese animasi like this "American anime" loosely anyways, with the understanding i don't consider it "true anime".
i am getting used to the idea of calling an american comic book that used done Japanese Manga style Manga though (the bintang Trek Manga comes to mind). so some hari i might get used to the idea of American animasi done in a Japanese style anime.
Anime is made in Japanese and dubbed into english and other languages, however Avatar The Last Airbender is made in America and while the art is similar to Anime it isn't one and I highly doubt the creators wanted to make it that way,the fact is while the art similar Anime is made in Jepun and Avatar is not,so it isn't.
It's not an Anime, it's an Anime wannabe. Brother: I wanna watch an ANIME! Me: What anda wanna watch? Brother: Aang! Me: -Slaps him- Avatar is not an anime. It will never be an anime! Understand?! Brother:What anda hit me for...idiot... Me: What anda say!? Brother: Nothing Me: So what anda wanna watch? Brother: Cartoon Me: What cartoon -.-' Brother: Naruto Me:...GET OUT OF MY ROOM BEFORE I punch YOU!!!!!!!!
of course it is. Anime is just another word for animation. as an example, I was watching MLP:FiM on a Japanese site to see what they thought of it. it was tagged as 'anime' and 'overseas anime.' any cartoon is technically an anime. yes, the common English use is as a Japanese cartoon, but I really don't like it when people rule out every cartoon from ever being called an anime, because all those "stupid non-anime American shows" are called Anime in Japan, just like a lot of people will call Japanese animations cartoons. they are the same thing okay.
