I know not everyone celebrates Christmas, but in many countries, there is a big break coming up, and I thought I would share some good vacation-type reads. So put these on hold at the perpustakaan now to prepare for a long period of time for relaxation and good reading.

1. His Dark Materials sejak Philip Pullman
(The Golden Compass, The Subtle Knife, The Amber Spyglass)-I read this series once over a break and it is fantastic. Deep and meaningful while still a quick read. The 2nd one is my favorite.

2. Anna Karenina sejak Leo Tolstoy
This is probably a challenge for a lot of people, but it's one of the most amazing buku I have ever read. I tackled this one over a Krismas break and finished in a little over a week. It's a good book to go for when anda have a long stretch of time to devote to it.

3. Inheritance series sejak Christopher Paolini
(Eragon, Eldest, Brisingr) This is a good chance to catch up before the 4th book comes out. (Anyone know when that is, btw?) People may laugh at this pick, but the buku are very easy reads and pretty addicting. You'll get into them quickly which is perfect for the holidays. anda want to relax after all!

4. 1984 sejak George Orwell
If you've been putting it off, now's your chance to read this timeless classic!

5. Watership Down sejak Richard Adams
I know a book about rabbits on a quest sounds ridiculous but this book is completely wonderful. You'll get through it in no time.

6. Hans Christian Andersen's Fairy Tales
This book looks intimidating, but each of the stories are very short and they are magical. anda will Cinta this. Plus, you've got time to kill ;)

7. Lord of the Rings sejak J.R.R. Tolkien
Now, I understand that this task is a little overwhelming, but at least try to finish one of these 3 buku over break. I promise it's still good even if anda spread it out. Tackle one this break, another in the spring and the last one over the summer.

8. The Girl of the Limberlost sejak Gene Stratton Porter
I completely loved this book when I was 15. It's a beautiful story. It has little to do with vacation, but it's a thick book, though a quick read once anda get into it.

9. Birth of Venus sejak Sarah Dunant
If anda like historical fiction, this one was very surprising to me in a good way. I usually don't go straight for the bestsellers, I'm lebih of a classics girl, but I'd say this is a good vacation book.

10. The Last Wife of Henry VIII sejak Carolly Erickson
Another historical fiction. I learned a lot about English history and about Henry VIII and his many wives. The buku starts when he's still married to his first wife. I read this book literally from cover to cover without setting it down. A great fast read.

So there anda have it. This is not a senarai of my kegemaran buku (though many do fit into that category) but instead a true senarai of buku I think anda will find very enjoyable over vacation. So challenge yourself and read as many as possible atau even just one! Let me know what anda think, I'd Cinta to hear comments.

He’s looking at me like – well, like he wants to look at me. Like he likes what he sees, and he’s smiling and his eyes are so blue, even in the faint glow of the porch light they shine, and I nod dumbly, blindly, then grope for the door handle, telling myself to look away and not yet able to do it.
“Sarah,” he says, softly, almost hesitantly, and my hati, tengah-tengah slam bangs, beating hard, and this is what it’s like to want someone anda can’t have. To want someone anda shouldn’t even be looking at.
Sarah is in quite the predicament. She’s riding that rollercoaster of first Cinta – the...

Eve knew the stories of the Fall, of a time before she wandered into the colony of Eden, unable to recall anything but her name. She’s seen the aftermath of the technology that infused human DNA with cybernetic matter, able to grow new organs and limbs, how it evolved out of control. The machine took over and the soul vanished. A world quickly losing its humanity isn’t just a story to her though. At eighteen, this world is Eve’s reality.
In their Fallen world, Cinta feels like a selfish luxury, but not understanding what it is makes it difficult to choose between West, who makes her feel...

We hear a lot about sexism against females, and some people think this extends to books, which it probably does. A lot of buku have no females in them, atau only have weak female characters, like damsels in distress which are just there to be saved sejak males. But recently, there has been a lot of strong, resourceful new female book characters. Here are my favourite strong heroines- and two of them are from buku written sejak male authors, so well done men for realising that females can be string too.

1) Kestrel Hath, from The Wind on api, kebakaran series sejak William Nicholson.
Most of anda probably haven't...
