Celebrating its 15th annivesary, The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's Lace Up for Leukemia program is currently recruiting hockey players interested in taking to the ice against the Boston Bruins Black & Gold Legends team.

Lace Up for Leukemia is a heart-warming and entertaining event that combines the enjoyment of skating and ice hockey with support for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's two fold mission: to cure leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin's disease and myeloma and improve the quality of life of patients and their families.

The three-part event includes a Skate-a-thon, a Survivor skate, and an exhibition hockey game between the Boston Bruins Black & Gold Legends alumni team and "Team Lace Up", a group of select fundraising participants who each raise at least $1,200.

You could earn the opportunity to play on Team Lace-Up. Eligible participants must raise a minimum amount of $1,200 by April 10th to play. The top two fundraisers will dress and play with the Legends against Team Lace Up. Prizes will be awarded to those players who raise more than the $1,200 goal. All players must be 18 years of age with some ice hockey experience to participate. Team Lace Up will need 2 goalies. Each member must provide a non-refundable $100 donation at the time of registration to secure your spot--this fee will be credited towards your fundraising total. Players will receive a Team Lace Up hockey jersey the day of the event.

Tickets can be purchased at the door. The entry fee includes access to both the skate-a-thon and the hockey game. Individuals over 10 years of age: $10. Individuals under 10 years of age: $5. Survivors plus 2 family members: FREE.

This year's event will take place on Saturday, May 2nd 2009 at the Northstar Youth Forum in Westborough, MA. For additional information or to register, please contact Rebecca Longworth at Rebecca.Longworth@lls.org or via phone at 508-810-1318.
