Does anyone else feel/see similarities between the Buffy/Angel relationship and the Edward/Bella relationship from "Twilight"?

Angel knows he doesn't need to protect atau shield Buffy from anything. He does want to help her fight, and he worries about her, but he knows she can stand on her own. Angel doesn't tell Buffy who she can atau can't be Friends with, even if those Friends don't like him (like Xander). Buffy has sacrificed Angel (at the time, Angelus) to save the world, putting her Cinta aside and knowing it's not the most important thing there is. Similarly, Angel has sacrificed his relationship with Buffy both in the series, when he leaves for LA knowing they could never be together, and in his own series, where he chooses to allow her to forget the perfect hari they spent together in order to regain his vampire powers and help her save the world.

Bella and Edward only see each other. Buffy and Angel see how their relationship and they themselves play a role in the big picture, and they act accordingly.

Hmm... I don't think so, but I can kind of see where anda are coming from. Personally I think Edward and Bella's relationship is stalker-ish and I don't think Angel and Buffy's is like that. However these similarities are most likely just a coincidence, but I don't really think that the two relationships are the same. Ofcourse I might not be able to see it because all of my prejudices against Edward and Bella, so maybe others can see lebih relative to the perspective that the two couplings are similar!

Nope not at all! Buffy and Angel are one of the best romance stories of Televisyen history, because they are a forbidden love. Its her duty to kill him, its his life to kill her however theres a twist as he is CURSED to feel and have a soul, when they make Cinta he reverts back to his sardastic mean evil self and all can think about is how to kill her in the sickest way possible.
At which point would anda say their relationship sounded like Edward and Bella, maybe the human and vampire part becasue thats where the similarities end!

First of all the most important difference between these two 'relationships' was that Joss wasn't Penulisan his heroine a romance for the ages but a tragedy, oh and Buffy had lebih then one dimension to her character, she wasn't just a narrative tool to exploit the sudo erotic nature of 'vampires' who aren't even Vampires because they freaking SPARKLE!

No I don't, for one thing because Buffy is not a complete helpless loser like Bella, and Angel ain't sparkly and Angel was lebih mysterious and... well I just hate twilight and I'm pretty annoyed of the two being compared so often...

Okay, Alot of people are dissing Buffy saying they copied Twilight. Newflash people- Buffy's been out a whole lot longer then Twilight. Don't get me wrong, I Cinta Twilight and Buffy, but I'm sick of everybody going on about how Buffy copied it- It didn't. Alot of things are similar, but so what? They are both great! Like the Hunger Games and Battle Royale. They're very similar, but a lot of people like them both. So don't hate on both of them, because they are both awesome in their own way. So what if there's a few similarities? They are both great, so if anda don't except that, then get of this website!

Joss Whedon certainly opened up a can of worms didn't he...I think he is personally responsible for everything vampire orientated since Buffy.Look at the end scene in Twilight and compare it with "The Prom",just one example but there are many if anda know the Buffy and Angel series like the back of your hand.Don't get me wrong,I Cinta the whole twilight saga but the similarities sometimes are quite infuriating when anda think of where the credit is going. Then there's True Blood which is aimed at an older audience but the similarities are there again but with a freer rein.The new one is The Vampire Diaries...let's see...

I'm sorry, I don't see any resemblence what so ever. First thing: Edward is not a vampire with a soul. saat thing: Bella is not a vampire slayer and isn't even close to one. Third thing: Angel and Buffy have a deeper relationship then Edward and Buffy. Angel and Buffy's relationship is a weird one (in the vampire world). Buffy hunts Angel's kind, but still she loves him. Bella is like, an danger addict (i think) and Buffy does not want to do the stuff she has to do. I read 3 of the Twilight buku and then I just stopped. I am just a HUGE Angel and BUffy peminat and I hate Twilight (and whats up with Edward shinning in the sun? I thought that mythically sun hurt vampires????!!!!)

No; the only similarities there are is the vampyre-relationship, but even then, Angel does not sparkle, nor is he questioned to be homosexual - because Buffy actually looks like a girl.
Buffy is independent, she's strong, and she's set out to kill vampyres. She's restless, she's a typical growing teenager with flaws. She is not a Mary-Sue, and she does not abandon her Friends for Angel. Thus, she is nothing like Bella. And she doesn't see Angel as Adonis. :D
Angel ... he cares for Buffy, he loves her, yes, and in one of the earlier seasons he DID watch her sleep. But unlike Bella, Buffy did not get all googly-eyed and thought it was romantic. She fucking chucked him out the window atau something, I don't remember. Angel doesn't sparkle (again), and is a tad lebih badass than Edward. Because, anda know, he actually has flaws as well, and TURNS into a vampyre when necessary. He looks scary, he looks like what used to be known as vampyres. Edward ... uh, he looks like, well, eurgh, I'd rather not start.

Let's not compare anything other than shit FanFic and trashy romance to Twilit, please! Come on, we can do better than that. :D

Buffy and Angel are most definitly not like Edward and Bella not even close!!!!! In fact Edward and bella's relationship is a joke compared to what Buffy and Angel shared!!!! If I have to pop around and see one lebih twilight comparission I'm gonna snap!!!!!!!

I don't know what are Angel's thoughts anda are referring to but yes, there are a lot of similarities. Both relationships start with the guy stalking the girl, both see the girl falling for the guy and in both the guy dumps the girl for her own good. Of course, there are a lot of differences as well, for example Edward is always shown to be a good guy while Angel is the typical anti-hero, going evil lebih often than not atau Buffy wants normal while Bella wishes to become a vampire, but keseluruhan I can see a pattern there. I think the Edward/Bella Cinta story was done better, it was lebih coherent and made lebih sense, but talking of the tunjuk and the movie I really prefer Buffy.

Yes, there are some similarities. The most obvious is that both pairings include a female human and a male vampire. As anda said, Angel's attitude towards the relationship is similar to Edward's in New Moon, though Angel did end the relationship permanently while Edward and Bella got back together. Both pairings developed into a Cinta segitiga, segi tiga with the main female character in the centre.

There are differences too. Bella starts off as a normal human girl while Buffy is a Slayer. Bella wants to become a vampire and does sejak the end of the series, while that would have been a literal nightmare for Buffy. In Twilight, the pairing is the emotional centre of the story. In BTVS, it's lebih about Buffy's friendships with the Scooby Gang and her balancing a normal life with being a Slayer. And Twilight is lebih of a happy ending type of story.

No comparason at all. And I feel kind of offended that anyone would ask this question. Sure, Buffy's a human and Angel is a vampire just like Edward and Bella and Xander was a jealous best friend like Jacob to Bella but I mean come on. There was no Cinta segitiga, segi tiga atau any of that garbage. The only werewolf was Oz, but he left, Angel left at the end of season 3. As others have stated Buffy had sacrificed Angel to save the world, even though she loved him. Something Bella could never do. Angel also didn't sparkle when the sun hit him. And he and any vampire on the tunjuk actually looked like vampires. Twilight was just awful and in no way is like Buffy the vampire slayer. It's like comparing Harry Potter to Twilight. They are nothing alike except for the werewolves, that's it.

I can see why that connection can be made, in fact I saw it myself when I first started watching Buffy, but once I'd watched lebih it became clear they really weren't that similar. I feel like Edward and Bella's relationship is a cheap parody of Angel and Buffy - Edward and Bella seemed to be forever stuck in that 'teen love' phase, where all they could see was each other and to be honest, it got suffocating - it almost made anda want something to really rock their relationship whereas I never wanted Bangel to end (keep in mind I've only seen the twilight movies, I read some of the buku and didn't think they were well written at all). As dramatic and hati, tengah-tengah wrenching as Buffy and Angel were, they still echoed what real Cinta is - not easy - and it somehow managed to tunjuk that in both natural and Supernatural ways. I think their relationship really says something for the tunjuk as a whole as well, as crazy and mystical as the Supernatural genre can get, but still firmly connected to reality, and the human experience (sometimes a little too connected i.e. some of the tearjerker moments made me wish it hadn't hit so close to home).
