So, this is an artikel which I hope will get responsive articles, because I’m really quite interested in how most Baleheads stumble across Christian Bale.

In my case, the first film which I watched which he was in was Treasure Island. My mum had taped it off the television, and I was only a tiny little tacker, but it was Cinta at first sight. Yes, Christian Bale was my first crush. Even now, many years later, I am still impressed sejak his incredible Berlakon prowess at the age of sixteen. Every time the camera turned to him, he managed to completely own the entire screen, a shining bintang against a backdrop of a whole lot of numbskulls. The movie has this mystical aura to it which I simply adore. I can’t ever watch another version of Treasure Island uncritically. This one ruined them all for me. It’s just that perfect. At the time that I watched it, I didn’t register the whole Christian Bale part, which I’ll get to later, but now, as a fully fledged Balehead, I have had to face the problem of how to get it on DVD before I total my VHS copy from over-watching. First I tried my trusty friend, Amazon, but it let me down (for the first time), and all I could find was some hundred dollar copies of the VHS. It was a fruitless search. So, I ... gave up. A crime, I know. Instead of buying the DVD, I decided that I would make it. So I transferred my VHS to a DVD and, hei presto! I now have a DVD copy of Treasure Island. However, it has a few holes where there were advertisements, so I’m still considering buying the VHS version and turning that into a DVD, but not until I’ve got all the other DVDs that I want (which is all the Christian Bale ones I don’t own). I only had one lebih problem in my quest for a Treasure Island DVD. My DVD didn’t have a cover. It was quite ... ugly, and its Christian Bale aura was somewhat dimmed sejak the shabby little CD case it was living in. My solution? To take my least favourite DVD (Cinderella 2 ... I apologise to my younger sister) and take it out of its case, outing my Treasure Island DVD into it, and re-doing the decoration. I stuck white paper on it, and then a whole lot of pictures and stuff ... yeah, that’s just how I roll.

So, heading back to the past ... I’d seen Treasure Island, I owned it, but it was ousted from its place in my hati, tengah-tengah when we moved houses, and everything got jumbled in the unpacking. I still hadn’t heard the name Christian Bale when I watched A Midsummer Night’s Dream in class. I was in tahun seven, and we had been studying A Midsummer Night’s Dream in class. As I watched the film, I quickly discovered that Demetrius (Christian Bale’s role) was the most attractive person in the whole thing. Seeing as I didn’t know anything about any of the actors atau Pelakon wanita (I’d heard of some of them, but didn’t actually know anything bar what films they’d been in), I was judging my favourite sejak how good looking they were. Demetrius already held my hati, tengah-tengah after I had read the play (he was just basically lebih awesome than the others), and I was happy to see that they had managed to find a very talented person to portray him in the film. So, I’d seen and loved the film, but still didn’t know the name of Christian Bale. Happily, I now own the film having asked for it for my birthday ... and getting it.

After that, my Friends and I all went through this massive regression into our younger years, and went through a major Classic Disney phase. This phase led me to purchase and watch Pocahontas. In this film, I was struck sejak the absolute monstrosity which was John Smith. He was HIDEOUS and his voice dripped with ... slimey ickey-ness. I quickly noticed the solitary beauty in the film. Thomas (Christian Bale’s character) astounded with both his voice and his looks. He was the only attractive (yes, cartoon characters can be attractive, and immensely so) character in the whole thing, and his voice ... it was WOW!!! I mean, really really wow. Yet still, I did not discover the name Christian Bale.

It was not too long after this that I hired a film called Howl’s Moving istana, castle from the video store, on recommendation from my elder sister. I watched it, and was struck at the same time sejak both Howl’s perfect voice and looks. I, as undoubtedly have many others, immediately fell in Cinta with Howl (Christian Bale’s character) and couldn’t get enough of the film. A while later, my sister (the one who first got me to watch it) bought it, so I had permanent access to it (as we lived under the same roof at that time), and grasped that opportunity quite gleefully. One day, I was watching it, and decided that I could not go any longer before discovering who was in possession of such a beautiful voice. I didn’t have to look far. On the back of the DVD case, it clearly stated that Howl was voiced sejak a certain Christian Bale, and mentioned that he had been in Batman Begins. I decided that the seterusnya most important step was to Google him, so I quickly pulled up two tabs (images are also important...) and did just that. I not only discovered that his looks were, well, god-like, but he also had a glowing career, and I had seen some of his films. I quickly reinstated my old VHS copy of Treasure Island on my shelf (not before smashing a few light globes after dropping video off high shelves onto them), requested a copy of A Midsummer Night’s Dream, and hugged my copy of Pocahontas. I then bargained with my sister to have her copy of Howl’s Moving Castle, and she now greatly regrets it, having had quite a while to mull over her error. It wasn’t long after that that I became, well, obsessed. Before Christian Bale, I’m sad to say, I was obsessed with Richard Hammond off bahagian, atas Gear. But, hey, let’s not go there.

So, Howl’s Moving istana, castle and my sister were responsible for my discovery of Saint Bale, and my immediate reaction was to head down to my local video store to borrow a copy of Batman Begins – and it certainly didn’t disappoint!! I fell in Cinta with Bruce Wayne and everything about him ... he was charming, as well as a lot of other things, and Christian Bale acted him soooo well that words cannot even begin to describe it. Prior to this, the only Batman I had ever watched was some old black and white mini-series that my dad made me watch, so Begins just made me Cinta the whole concept of Batman – I’d never realised there was anything to him beforehand. anda know, I completely written off superhero films, after seeing Superman and Spiderman flop, but Batman begins was insanely good. I vowed to see The Dark Knight as soon as I could, and lapsed into digging around on the internet for information on him. I later bought Batman Begins, the extended version 

So, shortly after this, I discovered that Terminator Salvation was menunjukkan at the cinemas, and he was in it!! anda can hardly begin to imagine my excitement. I dragged a friend along to see it with me, and she loved it ... though not nearly as much as I did. I saw it another five times, with other Friends and once sejak myself. Then I got my dad to go out and buy the other three Terminator films (“Hey dad, anda like the Terminator films, right? anda should buy them ...”), and bought the Sarah Connor Chronicles myself (Dad wasn’t so interested in them). sejak doing this, I discovered that Salvation was the best instalment sejak far into the Terminator mythology, and bought it as soon as it was released. Contrary to what many (idiotic) critics have said, in this film Christian Bale does not tunjuk an immense lack of Berlakon skill and just run around like a headless chook shouting out all his lines and grunting a lot. He does an incredible job of his character. John Connor has a lot of depth to him, and has already been built on sejak so many people, that Christian Bale had a lot to work with, and some very high expectations to live up to. I don’t know about everyone else, but he far exceeded any expectations that I was holding, and seemed to intensify John Connor and grow his character far lebih than any other actors who have taken on the same role. He mencuri the scene every time he was on camera – he was just incredible. Incredible.

After seeing this, I went out and bought myself a copy of The Dark Knight, in which Christian Bale did an even better job of playing Bruce Wayne, and cried myself silly for multiple reasons (which I won’t go into here atau this will go on forever). I am now hanging out for Batman 3, which will come out in 2012 if rumours are correct.

It was then that I had a VERY good look over his filmography and committed it to my memory. I discovered which ones would be weak points with my father, and promptly set about getting him to buy them for me, likewise with my mother. I got my dad to buy Rescue Dawn, 3:10 to Yuma and Empire of the Sun, and my mum to get me Little Women, and The Portrait of a Lady. After admiring my cunning for a while (dad didn’t even pick up what the three films had in common until I told him), I set about to watch them in order of creation. So, I first watched Empire of the Sun and was stunned sejak Bale’s Berlakon skill at such a young age. From there it kind of snowballed, and my collection of Christian Bale films is now at a number of twenty-eight, and I have seen even more.
What makes me really sad is that I don’t have enough money to get all the ones I don’t own yet ... It’s quite depressing really. Anyway, Christian Bale’s Berlakon prowess has only increased as time passes, and I think his families influence on his work is noticeable. Basically, everything he does seems to increase his skill (and good looks), and I’m really glad he has his wife and kid to support him, and am kind of sad to hear all that stuff about his lack of contact with his mum and sisters, but I’m sure that any decisions he makes are for the best, and are the best.
That was all pretty off topic, but, yeah :)
