Band Name: Daydream Arcade

Been together since: October 2010
Band members: vocals - Olivia Romas, guitar/synth - Marcus De Fazio, gitar - Adam Raffa, bass - Gemma Helms, drums - Andrew Stasiak.

How long has the band been together? And what is the story behind it? Aside from being close mates since our early high school years, we’ve been together since October 2010. However prior to Daydream Arcade, three of five members had been playing Muzik together in a different band. Following the end of that initial band, we were keen to continue Penulisan music, playing and gigging together. After recruiting a couple of new members, Daydream Arcade was born.

What are your musical influences as a band? How have they evolved from when the band first started out? Currently we’re leaning lebih towards Two Door Cinema Club, Empire of the Sun, Cut Copy and Jackson Jackson. However, in the early stages, Daydream Arcade was influenced sejak The Strokes, MGMT and Kings of Leon.

Where did your band name come from? During a rehearsal in Septemeber 2010, we were listening to Foals. It was due to the misinterpretation of lyrics that resulted in “Daydream Arcade”. Nowadays we continue to sing incorrect lyrics, just for the nostalgic thrill.

What are your experiences with All Ages gigs and what do anda like about them? Our experiences with All Ages gigs have always been fun, energetic and memorable. It’s such a nice feeling to have our Muzik enjoyed sejak a variety of ages. Aside from this, the staff and crew are always so professional and accommodating. anda know nothing will ever go pear-shaped at an All Ages gig.

Has your band had any prior involvement with FReeZA and/or The Push? If so, what? In early 2011, we had the privilege of playing at Moomba and the Darebin layang-layang Festival on Freeza affiliated stages – we’re also stoked to have been booked again for both festivals in 2012.

What would be your gig atau dream tour? Where would it be, who would be playing, etc? LOLLAPALOOZA! The 2011 line up was super impressive and to play alongside such world class acts would be a (day)dream come true! Having berkata that, we’d be stoked to play at a lebih local festival such as Laneway atau Big hari Out. Touring, we’d Cinta to be on board with any band with an ‘indie-pop-dance’ sound and who are excellent at what they do. Party time.

Finally, what was it like competing in the FReeZA Push Start Competition this year, please tell us about your experiences in the heats, regional finals and then finally in the grand final? Our North-Western heat in June 2011 was certainly interesting. One of our band members endured a break-up literally minit before we stepped on to play (haha!), so emotions were running high. Needless to say it worked in our favour, as we came out on top! The regional final was awesome, we had a ball playing to a great crowd, making Friends with the headline band of the night, Better Than the Wizards, and celebrating our successes. We’ll let anda know how the grand final goes after March 12th!

What are anda plans with the prizes? Record and release an EP, play future gigs decked out with wicked gear, beat Justin Bieber’s record in YouTube papar with our video clip, and achieve world domination. No biggie.

What prize excites anda most and why? The whole package! It’s everything every up and coming band could ever ask for to get rolling. We feel this would be an incredible help and the ultimate kick-start to Daydream Arcade’s long and healthy career.
