I think... he WAS an good father but seriously, can he just think about it for a while and maybe acknowlege the possibility that his son MIGHT be Kira?

Um, people, the question's asking about if he was a good father. I could understand him being a bad policeman since his son was Kira and he didn't even know it. But I think it was because he let his emotions get in the way.

Honestly, would you want to believe that your son was Kira? He loved his son so much, that he put aside reason and several arguable points against him. I think he may have known, but he fought the part of his mind that thought that. He was in denial; he didn't want to think that his son was Kira. And he quite willingly risked his life for his daughter.

I think that he was a phenomenal father.

He was perhaps a little too naive and trusting, but I think the fact that he loved Light unconditionally is admirable.

Yagami-sama was a fantastic father in my opinion,he trusted and believed in his son,he tried his best for his family and he was a really great family man,I really liked him,so yes most definitely.

If he wasn't Light's own father he probably would have suspected him as Kira~ But that's how much he loved Light. He let his feelings for him get in the way. That doesn't mean he's a bad detective, that just means he loves his son~ Besides, you have to admit, Light did a pretty good job at covering up his crimes. And in his last moments he believed with all of his heart that his son was innocent. Damn you Light! ;__;

Seriously? Just because he didn't know, or didn't want to admit his son was a worldwide mass murderer doesn't make him a bad father at all. Light covered up every little detail and made it nearly impossible to suspect him. No wonder he didn't know.
This man should get a Father of the Year Award! 🏆
