I'd say yes, though I understand little of astronomy. I essentially believe what I'm told sejak astronomers and physicists on the issue, and there's widespread agreement that the universe is still expanding.

I see. Fair enough. I know a little of astronomy myself and yes, I do believe that it is still expanding. Whether it is, atau not, is another question... I don't honestly know, but it is actually a rather difficult to answer, because there are so many factors to take into consideration... Plus, the Universe is absolutely massive.

Actually, I will rephrase... I believe that the Universe has always inhabited the same amount of angkasa that it does now... I feel that it could have potentially always existed.

Heh, I believe we've had this conversation before.

Oh, I know, I was making sure that I rephrased myself... I don't want to sound TOO sure on something I'm not that sure about... Haha

I believe the Universe is expanding, I do not believe it is expanding 'outwards' though. The Universe is everything. All angkasa and time, everything that exists. So there is no 'outwards', because there is no 'outside' to everything, to the universe, unless anda believe in multiple universes atau something like that. Which some people do.
The Universe I do believe is expanding though. As do many Astronomers (which I plan to become one hari xD) But scientists do seem to believe that the universe is growing. And because we see it becoming bigger so rapidly that led to the idea that at one point it was much much smaller, which as anda probably know led to the Big Bang Theory. We calculated this rate that the universe seems to be expanding at and retraced it to when the universe was supposedly the size of only a proton about 13.8 billion years ago. Why the universe is expanding, we are not sure. There's many different theories. Some of these theories include, our universe is somehow getting pulled into another universe with a stronger gravitational pull. atau religious papar which some state, as humans become lebih advanced, God is giving us lebih angkasa to study and explore. But not only is the universe expanding, but science also shows that that expansion rate is accelerating. The most accepted explanation for this is link Research shows that dark energy accounts for about 74% of the entire universe. Before we knew about dark energy, scientists believed that gravity should be causing the universe's expansion speed to slow down. But with dark energy science suggests that dark energy outperforms gravity's pull and is making the universe expand faster and faster. Plenty of Astronomers believe that the Universe itself is like a balloon. If anda take a marker and make a bunch of dots onto the balloon the dots will be very close if the balloon is not inflated. But when blown up the dots spread far apart from each other. This is what seems to be happening as the universe expands. All celestial bodies, stars, planets, galaxies ect. Seem to all slowly be moving away farther and farther from each other. This act is known as link. But then again we're not even exactly sure what dark energy is. Nor are we 100% sure of the Big Bang atau other accepted theories. So the field is open to all sorts of explanations ~ |

I have a soalan for you... Where did anda come sejak this information? Plus, I have another... How are we sure that the Universe really is expanding? Could it simply not be an endless void - something that neither grows, nor shrinks, just everything... So incomprehensible that the human mind could not even begin to understand it? I have a thought... What if the Big Bang was actually the Hypernova of a semi-massive star, one large enough to put off enough energy to create enough energy to form a galaxy, and create enough debris to eventually form planets... What if the Universe has always existed... That time and angkasa have always inhabited the same amount of angkasa that it does now...?

Well, I acquired this information through various books, websites, shows, and then some from my uncle who happens to be a professional Astronomer himself. We know the universe is expanding, well maybe not the entire universe (we aren't quite sure if there is something beyond the visible universe) but we know the observable universe is expanding because of redshifts. Which are wavelengths of light is stretched, so the light is seen as 'shifted' towards the red part of the spectrum. And with this we can measure how far about celestial objects are. And we see that they are all spreading apart moving farther and farther away. Which means that at least the observable universe is expanding. It could be possible that the visible universe is just filling in all the angkasa of the whole entire universe. And that the actual universe itself may not be expanding.

Your theories i find fascinating though. And when putting some thought into them they seem very possible. I have this one paticular theory of my own and if the universe as anda say has always infinitely existed then that would just would make it lebih true. But like I said, we can never know for sure and the field is open to all sorts of explanations.

Heh, thanks for replying. I'm pretty interested in astronomy, so I'm glad anda took the time to write something back. Your explanation was very well-done, thanking you. When anda say about the wavelengths of light being stretched, it really does make sense... I actually listened when I was studying this in biology, so I can remember how it works, generally. Anyway, so anda think that it could be possible, huh? Awesome! I just wish there was a way for us to do lebih conclusive research into it. Just wondering, but could explain your theory? I'm pretty intrigued now, and I'd Cinta to hear it. XD

I apologize for the late reply (and the late reply last time as well, been rather busy lately). Well since anda are interested I suppose I could explain it. Basically, if one thing is infinite, then it's possible that everything could be infinite. Most people think of the smallest unit of measurement as an atom. But then, atoms are made up of protons, neutrons and electrons. And the protons, neutrons and electrons are then made up of quarks and leptons. So far we aren't sure if there's a something smaller that makes up those quarks and leptons. But if there is then what makes up that? And then what makes up that, and then that, and so on? What if there' just no imaginable end to how small that matter can get, that after we find something smaller that makes up something else then there's still to find a measurement that makes up that. An infinite amount of small. And if there is an infinite amount of small, then doesn't that mean there would be an infinite amount of big as well? The observable universe may be expanding, but what of the universe we can't see? Could it keep going on and on forever? And if something as that is infinite, why not everything? What if there is an infinite amount of universes? They know no distance but are just...here. All around us. And an infinite amount of everything, an exact copy of everything that has ever existed? An infinite amount of exact copies, including anda and me. And if that is all infinite, what of life? What of this moment? This moment itself is infinite, and at any time we could go back and relive it once again. And of life, would life then be infinite if everything else is also? That death is an illusion that's never really existed? When we 'die' what if it's an illusion? That we could have died a million time and never have known it. What if in one sense we suffered a horrible painful death through a car accident and our family members are mourning, but in our vision it was just another drive with nothing unusual. Still alive and well. The people who die around us are actually perfectly fine and living the same life a before in some other dimension, universe, somewhere. atau what if when we die, whatever we think happens happens. What if if we think we're going to heaven then we go to heaven, if we believe we're going to be reincarnated into an animal, we're reincarnated into an animal. atau what if we are reborn into our other exact copy in another universe. What if our whole universe is huge to us but the size to an atom to someone else? anda may atau may not know how the shape of the universe looks very similar to that of a brain cell. What if the entire universe and all the universe make up another which makes up another. What if our universe is living? As a cell atau even an atom to another living thing, that lives within another. That we ourselves are made up of universe. The atoms atau other smaller units in our body are whole universes. And those universe have atoms that make up another smaller one and then another smaller one and ect. and the same thing the other way with making up bigger universes. And at the same time the universe makes up something bigger it's also still infinite but that it's unimaginable for the human mind to comprehend.Or back to when I berkata how this moment itself is infinite and we could go back and live it again. What if things like Deja vu atau dreams that have been known to predict the future are really just time bending itself and letting us see the past and future within our minds without us realizing it?

I'm not saying I have full belief in any of this, I'm saying that it's possible. And if I sound crazy, well then good!~ Because most theories that became true originally were considered crazy. I know nothing of any certainty, but that's the beauty of it. Of not being sure how it all began atau what the universe atau life really is. Even though it eat away at me not knowing the full truth and explanation to everything, I also find it beautiful. As Einstein once said, the mot beautiful thing we can mysterious is the mysterious. Not knowing anything, meaning there's so incredibly much to know and thrive to discover and learn. The beauty of not knowing anything, is that truly believing that anything is possible.

Wow...well that was a lot longer than I thought it would be and I over explained everything and got way off topic from the original theory but basically: one thing being infinite = everything is infinite. Including time which can correspond to your theory about how the universe has infinitely existed~

Wow, just... Wow. I honestly never thought of it that way. That is truly amazing. Are anda sure anda aren't a genius in disguise, atau something? Anyway, I understand what anda mean... If there is an infinite amount of small, which applies to everything (take micrometers and nanometers for instance) then that means that there would certainly be the potential for even much larger things to exist. What if the Universe we think we know is actually just a micro-Universe making up a tiny fragment of an even larger macro-Universe? What if black holes could infinitely expand and contract until they cover an area larger than some galaxies? The possibilities are, anda guessed it, infinite. Honestly, I'm glad there's someone out there that thinks of crazy shizz like I do... I don't feel so alone anymore. Oh, and for the record, to me your idea doesn't sound crazy in any way - In fact, I think it is brilliant.
