Now on to Part two of how the Disney Princess Stories got their start. I hope anda will enjoy this informative artikel as much as the last one.

Aladdin:

If Disney had not changed up this tale then melati, jasmine would not have had such a big role, so I am glad they put a different twist on it. Oddly enough it was a French man who added the Middle Eastern folk tale to the Arabic book The Book of One Thousand and One Nights. Antoine Galland translated the book and published his work between 1704 and 1717. Well Disney kept Aladdin’s name and the fact there was a genie, evil sorcery, and a Princess, but besides that I prefer the Disney version.

Pocahontas:

Ah, the story of Pocahontas. I am sure everyone has learned about this particular Indian in School, and know that Disney took a lot of liberties with the story. Well they did keep her name and Johns name and the fact she was an Indian, but they also twisted the story to make it lebih entertaining.

1.Pocahontas was a Virginian Indian born in 1595 and her birth name was Matoaka.
2.Supposedly in 1607 Pocahontas saved an English captive, John Smith, from being clubbed in the head sejak her father, Chief Powhatan. She would have been 12 at the time.
3.Captain John Smith was born in 1580 so he would have been 27 at the time and he was captured sejak Pocahontas tribe while looking for food. And everything known about John Smiths and Pocahontas encounter are based on John’s stories, but he told a similar story in his book True Travels (1630). Supposedly he was saved sejak a young girl in Hungary in 1602 (this time it was Turks trying to kill him). But the encounter, whatever really happened, did make relations friendlier between the Indians and the colonists at Jamestown (for a while anyway). There are a lot of indications that John was a liar and made up these story years after it actually happened.
4.Sadly Pocahontas story was not as romantic as the movie’s made it out to be. She did meet John Smith, but she married another John. During some bad moments between the settlers and the Indians she was captured (1612…she was about 17) and held for ransom. While with the English she was converted to Christianity, changed her name to Rebecca and in 1614 married John Rolfe (he was 28) and had a son with him in 1615 (Thomas Rolfe). 1616 the family traveled to England for Rebecca to be presented to English society to tunjuk off a civilized “savage” and she became very popular, but in 1617 on the return trip utama she died (it is unknown what she died of but theory’s range from smallpox, pneumonia, tuberculosis to the possibilities of poisoning).
5.There supposedly was a warrior called Kocoum, but all we know is supposedly he married Pocahontas in 1612 and ended that marriage when she was captured in 1613, but that is not for sure.

I know I am leaving out a lot, but if anda are interested in the rest of Pocahontas story there are several sites anda can go to.The movie might not be accurate but it is not as sad and patchy as the truth and a whole lot lebih entertaining.

Mulan:

I Cinta this movie and I find it interesting that this movie was based on a Chinese Poem that was first transcribed in the 6th century. The poem is called The Ballad of Mulan, which is about an ancient Chinese woman named Hua Mulan. There actually have been other adaptations of this story besides the Disney version both on T.V. and Film. I have telah diposkan a link to the poem so that anda may read and enjoy it: link Disney just used the basic information of Mulan going to war in her fathers place and wove their own wonderful story.

The Princess and the frog:

I Cinta this version of the story and I also like how the original story is mentioned in the film as well. The original story is a German fairy tale gathered sejak the Brothers Grimm, Der Froschkönig oder der eiserne Heinrich ("The Frog Prince; or, Iron Henry"). The only thing similar with the Disney version is the prince and the frog curse. What I can rember the Princess did not Ciuman the frog to break the spell, but actually threw him across the room and that is what is in the original Grimm version. I actually always found the Princess to be a horrible brat and thought it wrong that she gets rewarded for her rude behavior with a Prince that just seemed wrong to me. So I enjoyed the Disney Twist a lot more.

Rapunzel:

This tale was defiantly changed up quite a lot, but I actually like Disney’s version more. And from the research I have done the tale I thought Tangled was based off is not even the original story. The original story possibly got its start in the 10th century (901 to 1000) and was very simple to begin with (basically the only similarities are the maiden, tower, and the long hair being used a ladder for her lover). That story was about Rudaba and it was a Persian tale included in the Poem Shahnameh which was written sejak Ferdowsi. I also read where some parts of Rapunzel may have come from the story of Saint Barbara, but all I got was the reference of her being put in a tower.

It is very interesting how a story can start from such humble beginnings and blossom into such an interesting tale. Disney made the story very unique and I like the twists they added. I have added the version I rember Membaca when I was younger. It might be neat to see one of the Rapunzel versions turned into a live action, adult movie, but it is according who directs it.
