Not sure if anda all have seen my ramblings on the wall, but I've converted! I am now officially a Merida peminat (not that I wasn't before, but just recently I've fallen in Cinta with her lebih than ever before). She's now sixth on my senarai including Anna and Elsa, and fourth not including them. This kind of came out of nowhere, but lately I'm over the moon about her and I think it's a good time to write one of these artikel-artikel for her. I've already written one for Aurora, Snow White, Cinderella, Pocahontas, Jasmine, Tiana, Elsa, and Anna, and plan on making one for all of the princesses at some point. Well, I hope anda enjoy the artikel :)



To be quite honest, Merida isn't usually the type of character I like. I'm not someone who praises her for not wanting to get married, I'm not someone who praises her for being proactive, I'm not someone who praises Merida for being "strong". Actually, beginning of the movie Merida has me at borderline dislike. She's rash, passionate, feisty, and more, all things that usually turn me off from characters, though as the movie progresses, she definitely steals my heart. I Cinta Merida's yearning for freedom. Her fearlessness and adventurous spirit is just so endearing and really makes me happy. Her dreading of Elinor's lessons is also extremely realistic to me, as I am usually the same (If anda know me, anda know I complain so much).



The way that she responds to the marriage news was also extremely realistic. She fought with her mom, understandably, and ran off in anger. I actually find Merida quite intelligence, especially in the way she finds the loophole in the law, where it says the first born, including Merida. Also, she figures out how the spell was repeated before with Mor'du without a lot of information, which I found quite intelligent. I don't glorify atau try to make right what Merida did with the cake; it was wrong and doesn't deserve justifying, but I do think people overreact to it. Merida is a flawed character, undeniably, but I like seeing her at such a dark place, I enjoy seeing her flaws displayed directly. I think us seeing where she was before the movie and seeing her at the end of the movie just makes the impact of her character development even stronger.



Merida's character development is sejak far my kegemaran thing to her. At the beginning of the story, she repeatedly says, "It's not my fault, the witch is to blame!", but later on in the story, she says twice how it's all her fault; once during the speech and later at the end of the film with Elinor. Merida has trouble facing thing's head on, but she later can admit to her mistakes and tries her hardest to right the wrongs that she's committed. I Cinta the mother-daughter scene Merida and Elinor have when they first start fishing. It shows Merida's goof-ball personality that I love, and the scene is just really touching to me. The scene later on when Merida gives her speech and finally admits to what she's done. "I have been selfish, I've tore a great rift in our kingdom. There's no one to blame but me," those words just speak volumes to me, and also the fact that she was ready to marry one of them. If Elinor didn't intervene, I feel that Merida would have honestly berkata that, which yet again shows her character development.



My last kegemaran scene of Merida is the scene with her mom towards the end of the movie. anda can clearly see just how much Merida really does Elinor and just how terrible she feels for what she's done. "Oh mum, I'm sorry. This is all my fault, I did this to you, to us! You've always been there for me, you've never telah diberi up on me. I just want anda back." compare that to the beginning of the movie, where Merida literally says, "You've never been there for me!" and anda can just see the 360 degree turn that she's took. Despite developing drastically, it's also very realistic to me, and anda can still see the red head girl that we've grown to Cinta intertwined with the new her.



All in all, Merida is amazing. She's very symbolic to me, and a big inspiration to tunjuk that anda can change; you're expectations, your fate, your actions, your flaws, and still be you. Her development is sejak far my kegemaran of all the princesses, and her realistic personality is really a joy to watch. They don't sugar kot Merida, and I really appreciate that. Although my Cinta for Merida has come at a late time, I have a feeling that she'll be high on my senarai forever.
