Hi everyone! I recently learned about the Bechdel Test from a friend and have been wanting to write this artikel ever since. This test is, at its core, an analysis of how women are portrayed in popular culture. It reveals how much women tend to revolve around men in films, books, etc. To pass the test, a film (or any other work of fiction) must meet three requirements: the film must (1) have at least two named female characters (2) who talk to each other (3) about something other than a man. It seems so simple, right? Unfortunately a surprising number of films fail in at least one of these aspects. Well now it's time to see how our beloved Disney Princess Filem stack up when put to the test!

Disclaimer: This artikel is not meant to bash any of the films atau say that they are "anti-feminist," nor do I necessarily think that this test is the best way to determine if a film is "feminist" atau not. I simply thought it would be fun to see which Filem pass the test. anda can find a lot of info on the Bechdel Test online, including different versions and criticisms of it. I am using a slightly lebih strict version which requires the two female characters to be named.

Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs

1. Does the film have at least two named female characters?
Unfortunately not, so Walt's first full length animated feature fails right off the bat. While there are two female characters, Snow White and the Evil Queen, the latter is not telah diberi a name in the film. It is important to note that many peminat-peminat refer to the Queen as Queen Grimhilde, so she may in fact have a name. However, since her name is never mentioned in the film, it fails the test.

 Fail.
Fail.

Cinderella

1. Two named female characters?
anda betcha. In fact Cinderella sports four, not just two, named females: Cinderella, Lady Tremaine, Anastasia, and Drizella. If only the Fairy Godmother had a name this movie would have five! Still, this film passes the first part of the test with flying colors.
2. Do the women speak to each other? We wouldn't have a movie if they didn't. There's quite a bit of dialogue between the four of them, so Cinderella passes the saat part of the test.
3. Do their conversations revolve around something other than men? Several of them do! While there is quite a bit of talk of the Prince and the Grand Duke, they also Converse about the ball itself and Cinderella's duties. Thus Cinderella is the first Disney Princess film to pass the Bechdel Test!

 Pass.
Pass.

Sleeping Beauty

1. Two named females?
Sleeping Beauty does even better than Cinderella in this regard with five named women: Aurora, Flora, Fauna, Merriweather, and the unforgettable Maleficent.
2. Do they talk to each other? Again, there would be no movie if they didn't. Most of the film is the fairies' antics, and there's quite a bit of conversation sprinkled in there.
3. Do they only talk about men? While there's a good bit of conversation concerning Phillip, the majority of what the Pari-pari talk about is Aurora herself and how to protect her from Maleficent. With that, Sleeping Beauty passes the Bechdel Test!

 Pass.
Pass.

The Little Mermaid

1. Two named females?
The Little Mermaid sports a plethora of female characters, the most prominent being Ariel and Ursula, but when anda add Ariel's sisters to the senarai anda get a grand total of eight named women! That's almost as many as Cinderella and Sleeping Beauty combined, so The Little Mermaid definitely passes the first part of the test.
2. Do they talk to each other? Ariel and Ursula have quite the conversation in Ursula's lair, so The Little Mermaid passes the saat part of the test.
3. Do they only talk about men? Here is where the film that ushered in the Disney Renaissance falls short. Ariel and Ursula's conversation revolves entirely around Ariel turning human in order to woo Eric and hopefully win him so that she can remain human forever. While some might argue that the film should still pass since technically not the entire conversation is specifically about Eric, I believe that he plays such a prominent role in the conversation that the film fails.

Fail - but this could be debated.
Fail - but this could be debated.

Beauty and the Beast

1. Two named females?
Beauty and the Beast just barely passes this portion of the test with exactly two named women: Mrs. Potts and Belle herself (unless of course anda want to count Marie who needs to hurry up and get those baguettes).
2. Do they talk to each other? Again the movie just scrapes sejak with one conversation between Belle and Mrs. Potts immediately after Belle arrives at the istana, castle and is shown to her room.
3. Do they only talk about men? Like The Little Mermaid, whether Beauty and the Beast passes in this regard could probably be argued one way atau the other. Since the Beast is never specifically brought up in their conversation I'm going to allow it to pass, albeit somewhat dubiously since they are talking about how Belle has Lost her freedom thanks to him.

Pass - but this could be debated.
Pass - but this could be debated.

Aladdin

1. Two named females?
As the only Disney Princess film whose princess isn't the main character, it's no surprise that Aladdin fails right off the bat. melati, jasmine is the only major female character in the movie, let alone the only named one.

 Fail.
Fail.

Pocahontas

1. Two named females?
This film has not two but three named women: Pocahontas, Nakoma, and Grandmother Willow. While this isn't quite as many as some of the earlier Disney Princess films, it's still enough for it to pass the first portion of the test.
2. Do they talk to each other? Though Nakoma and Grandmother Willow never speak to each other, Pocahontas has a few conversations with each of them.
3. Do they only talk about men? John Smith and the settlers are a prominent topic, but Nakoma and Pocahontas have a conversation about the tajuk character's dream. This conversation is later continued with Grandmother Willow where the topic of Pocahontas's mother is also introduced. Pocahontas decidedly passes the Bechdel Test.

 Pass.
Pass.

Mulan

1. Two named females?
Like Pocahontas, Mulan passes this portion of the test with three named women - Fa Mulan, Fa Li, and Grandmother Fa.
2. Do they talk to each other? While their conversations are minimal since the majority of the movie takes place amongst an army of men, they do Converse during the scene where Mulan is being prepared to see the Matchmaker.
3. Do they only talk about men? Most of their conversation is about Mulan striking up a match with a good man, but since they mostly focus on Mulan herself and less on the men she needs to impress I will allow this film to pass. There is a short exchange between Mulan and Li about how Mulan is late which can also be taken into consideration. Like The Little Mermaid and Beauty and the Beast it could be easily argued that Mulan should not pass this portion of the test, however I personally think it makes the cut.

Pass - but this could be debated.
Pass - but this could be debated.

The Princess and the Frog

1. Two named females?
The last 2D animated princess film boasts a number of female characters including Tiana, Charlotte, Eudora, Mama Odie, and the elusive Evangeline, thus easily passing the first part of the test.
2. Do they talk to each other? Yes they do! Tiana and charlotte have a number of conversations, and Eudora does her share of talking as well. And of course who could forget the memorable conversation with Mama Odie?
3. Do they only talk about men? charlotte talks a lot about Naveen and Eudora pushes Tiana to find a man, but Tiana evens the score with all the talk of her restaurant. Tiana also speaks with Mama Odie about needing to be human again. It could be argued that since Tiana is building her restaurant in memory of her father all of her conversations about it are about a man. Personally, I think that's a little far-fetched, thus The Princess and the Frog passes the Bechdel Test!

Pass - but this could be debated.
Pass - but this could be debated.

Tangled

1. Two named females?
This movie just barely passes the first part of the test with exactly two named women: Rapunzel and Mother Gothel.
2. Do they talk to each other? They do quite a bit of talking, some of which is even set to music. It's mostly Mother Gothel giving backhanded compliments to Rapunzel, but it still counts.
3. Do they only talk about men? Nope, Mother Gothel spends a lot of time steering Rapunzel away from the outside world, and of course there's their exchange when Rapunzel realizes that she is the Lost princess. Therefore, Tangled passes the Bechdel Test.

 Pass.
Pass.

Brave

1. Two named females?
Though you'd expect a movie that's all about female empowerment to have lebih female characters, Brave still makes it through this part of the test with three - Merida, Elinor, and Maudie. The Witch doesn't count since she isn't named.
2. Do they talk to each other? The majority of the movie is Merida's interactions with Elinor which includes a lot of talking, although not a lot of listening in the beginning.
3. Do they only talk about men? They do talk a lot about the suitors and Elinor's desire for Merida to choose a husband, and if anda were testing the film using only the spoken conversations it might not pass. However, I will include their communication while Elinor is a bear, which is hardly about men at all. And so the most baru-baru ini Disney Princess film passes the Bechdel Test!

Pass - but this could be debated.
Pass - but this could be debated.

Overall

Of these eleven films only three couldn't pass the test: Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, The Little Mermaid, and Aladdin. This is pretty good considering the fact that about half of all films ever made don't pass the test. (Surprising statistic, I know. Don't believe me? Look it up!) From this, I'd say that the Disney Princesses do a pretty good job of being their own characters instead of being defined sejak the men present in their films. What do anda think? Is the Bechdel Test even a good measurement of such a thing? Let me know in the comments!
I Cinta imagining DP and their fashion, the kind of jewelry they may wear, the kind of parties they'd have. I have done a couple of these before for wedding themes and jewelry. This artikel mainly talks about their signature fashion style.

Snow White:
I think midi-length, flared skirts will suit her chirpy and joyful personality. She's the kind who'd want to keep her dresses simple yet playful and have a bit of color palette to explore in her wardrobe. Short gloves will also look lovely on her. Layering in skirt will match her upbeat and vibrant persona.
Best Color: all shades of red. Black...

Maybe i some hari , time lalu was guilty of calling some of the princesses "bad role models" , i was wrong, i realized that the fact that i don't like a character atau don't agree with, them doesn't mean they are bad role models.

To be fair,i find some people saying "Princess are a bad role model for girls because "insert princess name and reasons here" . But i don't see anyone saying a freaking thing about the Disney male characters . I did an artikel in the Disney club

It was supossed to be a parody of how people critize female characters but never say a thing about males. Nobody actually...

I hope that you have a great time in Europe, Anna!
Hi guys, since the Asian batch made it through the front page of Fanpop. Here are the European batch of Anna!

Italian (Serena Rossi)

My first impression on Serena (no, not her namesake Frozen costar, Serena Autieri) is that she sounds a bit like Kristen Bell. But, one thing is that her voice is slightly deeper than Kristen and keseluruhan good job! (Ratings: 9.5/10)

French (Emmylou Homs)

When I first heard her Singing Cinta is an Open Door, she sounds very bubbly and gentle at the same time. She does not sound heavy at all! (Ratings: 10/10)

Dutch (Nootje Herlaar)

Okay, I found out that Nootje is actually...

Many thanks to M_gann who helped me come up with this idea and organized the first few polls, as well as to everyone who voted, commented, and telah dihantar their lists! Now it's finally time to take a look at which DPs we think are most popular and compare them to which DPs actually are most popular. Please take a look at link as well!

11. Merida
Actual rank: 10

Wow, I am legitimately shocked that Merida is lebih popular than we thought she was. I've always viewed her as Fanpop's most hated princess, but I guess that's not true anymore! Unfortunately she's still very unpopular.

I'm going to tentatively...

So Rapunzel had a great beginning. "A single drop of sunlight" fell to the ground and created a bunga (?) that "had the ability to heal the sick and injured." Then because the Queen was dying, the bunga was mashed up and telah diberi as sup to the Queen who got well again. And the magic affected her baby. The magic golden bunga caused the newborn to be born with a head full of hair, and already extremely active.

Wait, what?

Did Gothel take her right after she was born? Isn't that dangerous? Shouldn't Rapunzel be with her mother, be nurtured sejak her and everything. Like, come on, at least wait until...

Finally! My Japanese Princess Appearance make it to the front page, I strongly recommend anda guys to check it out. So, now is a Korean princess's turn to see on how she will look like. Ironically, I also did a tinjauan on this too!

1. Ha Nui Lee (3rd Runner-Up, Miss Universe 2007)

She was the 3rd runner up in Miss Universe 2007 to her Japanese counterpart, Riyo Mori. She is my first choice for a Korean Princess, as she plays a Korean instrument called the Gayageum. So, she could also provide the movie some help!

2. Sa Rang Kim (Miss Universe 2001 contestant)

Greetings! I'm ApplesauceDoctr, here with an evaluation of the theatrical posters for the 11 Disney Princess films. To determine which posters are the greatest, I've considered three factors:

1) The Rekaan (including layout and color scheme)
2) Intrigue (the strategy involved in "selling" the film, atau influencing moviegoers to see it; includes the design, tagline, and impression)
3) Reflection of the film (how accurate of a representation the poster is of the movie it's advertising)

I'm attempting to look at each category objectively, but that may be difficult for the third one. My perception of...

Since nobody had done this, I thought that I could write this artikel since I Cinta Enya's songs!

1) Fairytale

The 3 classic princesses will definitely Cinta this song, as the tajuk says it all. The Muzik is very soothing and yet at the same time mesmerizing!

2) Wild Child

Ariel and melati, jasmine are considered fiercely independent, so this song Suits their spunky background!

3) Anywhere Is

Belle wants adventure, so this energetic song Suits her. Especially during the 'Belle Reprise' scene!

4) Memory of Trees

Since Pocahontas is an environmentalist, this sad song will be good and I would imagine her...

This is my updated princess peminat list. The biggest change is a swap-out/trade-placements of two princesses. These are my opinions. I will explain as I go.

1. Mulan
I’ll probably be a peminat of her my whole life. She’s the most sacrificial character in the whole Disney Princess lineup, and I can’t help admiring her for overcoming her numerous flaws. Mulan is a convincing heroine, and her humaneness is something that I find missing in some of the Revival Era girls.

2. Ariel
She was my childhood favorite, but she doesn’t seem to diminish in my...

hei fellow Disney princess fans! I'm isabellagirl033 and the idea for this artikel just came to me out of the blue. In this artikel I'll determine which princess has the best of each feature.

Best Hair: Aurora

Aurora's hair has just the perfect volume and the beautiful color of buttercup. The curls suit her really well and the length is perfect.

Best Face Shape: Rapunzel

Not too bold yet not too soft. The face shape works really well giving Rapunzel a innocent and youthful look and Suits her personality.

Best Eyes and Eyebrows: Belle

The eyebrows have just the right thickness. Belle's...

So, with this topic on whether atau not Elsa should be gay has been very popular over the internet, I felt it was time to tell anda my opinion on this topic.

Before anda get disgusted with me atau anything, I have no problem with the LGBT community. In fact, my best friend is gay, and we often talk about boys and "ship" each other.

Now, there are a lot of reasons I think Disney should wait and make an original gay princess instead of making Elsa gay, I mean the main reason is I see Elsa as having no interest in romance- whether it's a male atau female. I would much rather have a sequel centering around...

So, I have been hearing from many people over their disagreements about Emma Watson's casting as Belle. So, I thought that I would write this artikel about it if she wasn't cast at all, first no hard feelings to any Emma Watson peminat-peminat out there (including myself) atau to the actress herself. So here are my senarai of actresses.

1. Anne Hathaway

I first heard her sing in Les Miserables, she blew everybody away with her rendition of 'I Dreamed a Dream', she's a marvelous singer in her own rights and I'm glad she's a talented actress!

Who's Singing voice do anda choose? Jasmine?
Who's singing voice do you choose? Jasmine?
So, this song has been covered sejak a few artists, like Lucy Hale sejak turning it into a country version. Then, another Disney bintang sang it, it is none other than Lea Salonga herself! Are anda ready for a battle between Team Salonga and Team Menzel? Here we go!

Idina Menzel

While I enjoy her version, she's a bit pitchy in certain parts. Although at some parts she's very emotional and I like that, because she's very ominous like Elsa and I'm glad that I like her version.

Lea Salonga

Many of anda know that she was the Singing voice of Mulan and Jasmine, when I heard her version. I thought that she sounds even better than Idina! I would not actually mind her voicing Elsa anyway.
But I guess that they don't want Elsa to sound like melati, jasmine and Mulan!

Conclusion

While both of them are good singers, I would say that Lea is the best singer out of these two!

Since it isn't so much left until Krismas I decided to write a few artikel-artikel here on that theme, not sure how many I'll do, but here's the first one. anda may not remember this song, but link in case anda haven't heard the song. Anyway originally the song had the 6 first Disney Princesses Singing the song, but I decided to redo the song a bit sejak adding 6 new princesses and their parts has new lyrics. I decided to exclude Merida, so the new parts will be dedicated to Pocahontas, Mulan, Tiana, Rapunzel, Anna and Elsa. I'll write on each part which princess that has that part, anyway hope you'll...
