Princess of the Month is very important to have an icon of in my opinion, it celebrates the princess of the month more when you see a whole bunch of icons of the Princess of the Month on the comments section. I try to keep my POTM icon for at least part of the month, but I frequently change it later on. If the Team icons were used, it would look less celebratory and would diminish the prominence of the POTM quite a bit, considering user icons are one of the big ways to celebrate the Princess of the Month.
