I've read Bambi and Pinnochio and I didn't really like them that much but I thought they were ok. I think i did like the Disney version better.

I mean, I think a lot of people would of missed out on these stories if disney hadn't made them into a movie. Especially younger children :)

I like it -- it's a nice way of getting more mature (and maybe depressing) stories and making them fun and for all audiences..

it's just a different way of telling a story.. i don't find anything wrong with it.. And a little while ago I found out the Lion King was based on Hamlet! I know Hamlet is an important piece in literature (and don't get me wrong, it's great) but i gotta say, naturally I enjoyed watching Lion King more..

Some orginal stories are really depressing (like the Little Mermaid... she doesn't get the man and practically commits suicide)
These make the stories fun for everyone, kids and adults alike!

What they did to The Hunchback of Notre Dame was just DEPRESSING

As much as Im freakin obsessed with Disney's Hunchback,Some of the changes were horrible! Some of them I understand but there are ways that they could have made it closer to the book and still apporoprite!...Umm..Wiktor Hugo?!?...Its Victor Hugo! =)

I luv disney movies , but sometimes finding out how differently the book ended makes me wonder how the movie should have ended...For example The hunchback of Notre Dame...in the book,Phoebus doesn't really love Esmeralda,he only feels lust.Then Esmeralda and Quasimodo just die and after knowing this i still wonder if in the movie Phoebus loved Esmeralda and such.

it's sad that "I don't read any of those novels" is winning.
I read Alice in Wonderland, and The Hunchback of Notre Dame, and I love both the movie and the book. They're are plenty of differences, but it keeps the same basic plot. It's also enjoyable to see a kids version of The Hunchback of Notre Dame.

I love Hugo's Hunchback, but Disney's is awesome, just the same.
It's sad, no one reads those anymore... pff... what has happened to the young generation. Seriously, what has to happen to get those kids away from their PSP and pick up a decent book (not being the manual for some XBox or whatever, that is.)

I was watching the special features on the Jungle Book and the cartoonists said that Walt Disney told his employes not to read the book because he didn't want to use that plot at all, he only wanted to use the setting, characters, etc.

^^ Um, you DO need to read. Otherwise you'll end up as a brainwashed dumbo who lives on the street! (I know, maybe a little over the top but still, YOU NEED TO READ!)
I personally, just feel that I will not read these novels, but that doesn't mean I don't read.

I love the novels, it's good sometimes to changed, Walt Disney is a magical Studio. Of course there gonna change a little.

I read the hunchback and it was very good, and so was the disney movie. It really depends on you point of view on the matter. Some people may like to stick to the novel and some other people, me included, enjoy the changes that were made for disney.
