Krillin was the first one to make the mistake in the Cell Saga. If Krillin didn't destroy 18, Vegeta wouldn't have let Cell absorb her. If Vegeta didn't let Cell absorb 18, Goku wouldn't have gave Cell the Senzu bean. AND if Goku didn't give Cell the Senzu Bean, Gohan would have killed Cell when he had the chance.

Cell had to reach his perfect form, in one way or another. The story would have been annoying. I think Gohan made the biggest mistake.

Vegeta by far, first he let Dr Gero wake up the androids and then he let Cell absorb 18, even attacked Trunks when he tried to prevent it. He could have saved the day several times in the Cell saga but due to his arrogance he just let the situation escalate to the worst possible scenarios. And most importantly, unlike Gohan and Goku, Vegeta didn't clean up his shit. Goku and Gohan also screwed up, but at least Goku gave up his life to save the Earth and Gohan ultimately killed Cell when no one else could have done it.

Then I put Goku's mistake, only slightly worse than Gohan's. Gohan's mistake had worse consequences but he was out of his mind with rage and 10/11 years old, and he did it out of wanting Cell to pay more for what he had done. Goku was 30 and with a perfectly clear head, he should have known better than to do such a stupid thing, and only for a good fair fight when the future of Earth was on the line.

Last I place Krillin's mistake, I know a lot of people insist he only did it cause he had a boner for 18, but I think if that was all there was to it then he wouldn't have bothered to help 16 out. That proves that he at least partly did it because he realized that the Present Androids weren't as evil as the Future Androids and didn't deserve to be killed or absorbed by Cell. His feelings for 18 definitely influenced his decision but there was more to it than that. So his mistake didn't produce that much worse consequences than the others and he at least had somewhat good motives for his "mistake".

If Krillin destroyed #18 , Cell wouldn't be able to transform in his perfect form so Vegeta would probably finish him while he is in his semi perfect form

They all made stupid mistakes, but goku would have done the same mistake as Vegeta and plot armor
Krillin should have killed 18 but it turned out for the better, however he has dragon balls to bring her back
Gohan is the fault of gokus death so that's bad
Goku was the most stupid though seriously he didn't even save a bean for his son he gave it to the guy who was trying to destroy the planet
Also 18 is an idiot for not running away when they had the chance, its partly her fault too she was asking for it

If I was vegeta and 18 broke my arm I would let cell absorb her
