Is it really wrong to have picks asking people to read your artikel atau to answer your question?

Ever since I joined Fanpop a few months lalu I have heard about rules of some sort and I was wondering how people know what is taboo and what isn't. Which goes along with my soalan because I have read artikel-artikel supporting these kinds of picks, but I recently have a read an artikel that states it is against "the rules". I would really like to get clarification on this matter and if possible the actual senarai of taboo things. Thanks in advance for help and sorry this is so long.
