I always think that when Hans came to Arendelle, he had no evil purpose. He became evil after he was charged to keep Arendelle save by Anna. Because of often being glorified by the citizens of Arendelle, an idea crossed his mind that he is competent to rule Arendelle. Then Hans began to lost in his own deepest desire. To rule a kingdom. Then his love for Anna was fading away...

I think he cared about Anna in some way. I mean, when he talks about his plans to take over the kingdom, he only ever mentions harming Elsa. If he had succeeded, I imagine he'd have left Anna alone. He just considered his plans to be more important than her.

I don't think he ever loved her, or went crazy at all. He has the hallmarks of a psychopath (someone of perfectly sound mind, a lack of empathy and brilliance at faking emotions) rather than a psychotic (someone with a mental illness).

Well, I saw this thing on tumblr, where a head canon was when the trolls sang, "Get the fiance out of the way", they really meant it, and they cast a spell on him to make him evil and forget about his love for Anna, so Kristoff would have more of a chance, but when Hans and Anna were singing and talking, he really meant it, and I have accepted that head canon :3
