End of Chapter 36
Edward had had enough, he was loosing his temper..and this wasn't going to help. "Join atau die, is that it? I suspected as much when we were brought to this room. So much for your laws." He spit at Aro.
Aro looked hurt, like Edward had hurt his feelings with his words. "Of course not. We were already convened here, Edward, awaiting Heidi's return. Not for you."
"Aro, the law claims them." Caius said.
I sucked a deep breath in, the his decision on our fate was already decided.
"How so?" Edward snapped.
He raised his hand and pointed a finger at Bella. "She knows too much. anda have exposed our secrets."
"There are a few humans in on your charade here, as well." Edward reminded him.
"Yes," Caius agreed, a smile pulling at his ancient lips. "But when they are no longer useful to us, they will serve to sustain us. That is not your plan for this one. If she betrays our secrets, are anda prepared to destroy her?"
Edward moved further in front of Bella.
"I think not." Caius said.
"I wouldn't..." Bella said, hoping to explain herself...but Caius's look stopped her words.
"Nor do anda intend to make her one of us," Caius continued. "Therefor, she is a vulnerability. Thought it is true, for this, only her life is forfeit. anda may leave if anda wish."
Edward growled, his lips pulling back to tunjuk all of his teeth.
"That's what I thought." Caius said, sure that he had proven his point.
Chapter 38
"Unless..." Aro interrupted. "Unless anda do intend to give her immortality.
Edward turned and glared at me before he answered. "And if I do?" He said, his face hard with anger.
Aro smiled which was beginning to bother me..nothing good came from that smile. "Why, then anda would be free to go utama and give my regards to my friend Carlisle." He said..his expression quickly changing. "But I'm afraid anda would have to mean it." He berkata as he raised his hands out in front of him, towards Edward.
Edward's face tightened, he looked at Bella like she would give him all the answers.
"Mean it," She whispered. "Please." The fear and apprehension in her tone was heard sejak everyone.
Edward was staring at her, his expression hard. I knew that he wouldn't be able to take Aro's hands and let him see that he didn't want to change Bella.
I knew that this was my time to shine, my time to tunjuk what I had seen and if I focused on it...it might be enough to convince even Aro.
I looked at both of them before I stepped away, taking a few steps that led me directly to Aro's waiting hands. His guards all tensed, ready to attack me if there was any sign of trouble. He brushed his hand out to all of them, a sign for all of them to stand down and let me tunjuk him what I could.
His hands closed around mine, his grip cold and firm. I was afraid to hold them..I didn't really want him to touch me, but this was the only way. I took a deep breath as I felt him taking my memories out of my head.
I saw the first time I met Jasper in Philadelphia, his hair and clothes drenched from the rain. Our wedding, our vows simple but full of everything that we both were feeling..the entire church flooded with Cinta from Jasper. Our meeting Carlisle, Esme, Rosalie, Emmett, and Edward. How I finally felt like I had a home, a family.
Our lives after that point, the hunting trips and the shopping parties. The first time I saw Bella, the way that Edward changed after he realized he would rather Cinta her than kill her. The visions I had of Bella and I, our arms wrapped around each other, our skin the same color. Bella cold, Bella a vampire.
Her 18th birthday party,planning the entire thing including seeing how she would respond and a innocent present and the way that it changed all of our lives. Edward telling me to leave her alone and not look..the fact that I could no help looking to make sure that she was alright.
The vision of Bella jumping and disappearing, the flight to Forks..and the way I felt. Seeing Bella walk into the house, the joy and Cinta that was felt when I knew she was alive. The fear when I realized Rosalie told Edward she was dead..and the flight over here, telling her I would change her myself and the fact that I promised and swore to do this regardless of how others in my family felt.
Our barely stopping Edward in time, only to be led down here and brought in to be judged. The anger that we all felt and all the private conversations that Edward had while we were down here.
Finally, my begging him silently to let us go home. That I would do anything, including change her myself if it meant that we could go utama to our family. How much I needed Jasper, how I longed for him.
Aro began laughing, bringing me back to the moment. He looked up slowly, catching my eyes as he smiled. "That was fascinating."
I smiled even though I felt violated in some way. "I'm glad anda enjoyed it." I berkata bitterly as I walked back towards Edward and Bella.
"To see the things you've seen...especially the things that haven't happened yet!" Aro berkata as he shook his head.
"But it will." I said, reminding him that what I saw did happen lebih often then not.
"Yes, yes, it's quite determined. Certainly there's no problem."
"Aro," Caius said, disappointment written all over his face.
"Dear Caius, do not fret. Think of the possibilities!! They do not sertai us today, but we can always hope for the future. Imagine the joy young Alice alone would bring to our little household. Besides, I'm terribly curious to see how Bella turns out." Aro berkata as he spoke to Caius, turning to smile at Bella when he berkata her name.
Bella was gazing up at me, wondering what I had told Aro that would cause him to have such a change of heart. I smiled down at her and nodded slowly...knowing she would understand what I meant sejak this.
"So we're free to go now?" Edward asked.
"Yes, yes. But please visit again. It's been absolutely enthralling." Aro berkata pleasantly.
"And we'll visit anda as well," Caius promised. "To be sure that anda follow through on your side. Were I you, I wouldn't delay too long. We do not offer saat chances." His tone held something....maybe it was contempt atau challenge.
Edwards jaw was clenched tight, I knew that he was listening to what Caius was really thinking. I would have to ask him about that later.
"We're going to get out!!" I screamed in my mind at Edward.
"Unless something changes." He thought back with disbelief.
Felix growled behind us..and at that point I was past the point of putting up with him. I turned and glared at him, putting as much challenge in it as I could.
"Ah, Felix. Heidi will be here at any moment. Patience." Aro said, calming the big guy.
I blinked and saw Heidi coming in with a group of people that thought they were on a sight seeing trip. She was leading them through the entire complex right now and when they got down here....the people would become a meal for the Volturi. We could not have Bella inside this room when that happened atau Edward and I wouldn't be able to protect her from them. I snapped my eyes opened and looked over to see Edward watching me closely.
"Hmm." Edward said, panic in his tone. "In that case, perhaps we'd better leave sooner rather than later."
"Yes, that's a good idea. Accidents do happen. Please wait below until after dark, though, if anda don't mind."
"Of course." Edward agreed.
"And here," Aro berkata as he motioned to Felix to come closer. Felix of course moved over as fast as he could..such a good lap dog. Aro pulled the long gray jubah, berjubah off the tall man, pulling from his shoulders and tossed it at Edward. "Take this. You're a little conspicuous."
Edward grabbed the jubah, berjubah and slipped it on, leaving the hud, hood down.
"It Suits you." Aro sighed.
"Thank you, Aro. We'll wait below." Edward berkata as he chuckled at the idea of how much Aro liked the look of Edward in the robe.
"Goodbye, young friends." Aro said, looking over to the direction of voices that were now getting louder.
"We need to go NOW." I thought to Edward.
