Ace Frehley + Paul Stanley Release ‘Fire and Water’ Cover, First Collaboration in 18 Years
KISS fans rejoiced when news broke that guitarist Ace Frehley had collaborated with vocalist / guitarist Paul Stanley. The duo recorded a version of Free’s “Fire and Water” for Ace’s new covers album,
Although Ace and Paul weren’t able to share physical studio time with each other, the former KISS bandmates were able to team up for their first collaboration in 18 years. After talking about possibly covering The Who or Derek and the Dominos, the KISS legends eventually decided on Free.
“I was always a big Free fan, so was Paul. We’ve always admired Paul Rodgers’ vocals,” Frehley told us in an exclusive interview. “I was so jammed up trying to catch up and finish the record, his schedule’s really busy. While I was doing one thing, he was throwing the vocal on. It would have been nice to have been in the studio together. Maybe next time.”
As of now, there’s been no talk of any other collaborations between Paul and Ace, but Frehley sticks by the motto “never say never.”
