Do anda think Sarah made the right choice in telling jareth "you have no power over me," ?

Remembering that it is a Fantasi movie....albeit a brilliant one at that. A lot was going off in Sarahs' life, considering she was at a stage of her life where letting go of the Fantasi imagination means entering a lebih mature life, lebih responsibility including looking after her baby brother, Toby. It is only when Toby is taken sejak Jarad, that Sarah realizes that she does indeed Cinta and care for Toby and therefore it means going after him, no matter what she has to do to get him back. Her growing maturity is shown when she struggles to remember the rest of the poem in order to break the spell where Jarad " has no power over her. " She seems to say this without hesitation just in time to save Toby.
I believe that Jarad was not evil but the catalyst that helps Sarah to make the leap from living totally in her imagination, to one that she at the age of approx 16 years old, she should be living.

I do think it would have been selfish of Sarah if she didn't save Toby. Toby's too young to know what's going on and he's got his whole life ahead of him; if Sarah stayed in the goblin world for her own desires, she may have been happy, but it would have ultimately deprived Toby of ever having a say in his life.

Let's go through the story: Sarah neglects her responsibility of babysitting Toby because she is completely wrapped up in her own Fantasi world. She is the one who wishes Toby gets taken away at the beginning, and when her wish comes true, she realises she was Berlakon on "in the moment" frustration and in actuality wants to rescue Toby. There are things in Jareth's world she likes; close Friends that help her on her adventure, a replica of her room where she will be safe, and Jareth seems to care for her (somewhat, anyway - his intentions are never made completely clear). But if Sarah is to stay there forever, so is Toby, and he never got a say in it. Plus, Sarah also seems to realise that she has a life to live in the real world too. But after she is in the real world, she notices how she "needs" her Fantasi creature friends. They then remind her that they are still there for her! This is a really heartwarming ending. :)

The story deals with coming-of-age realisations that as anda get older, anda cannot completely immerse yourself in a Fantasi world and neglect your responsibilities. However, there's no harm in hanging onto some of your childhood and enjoying Fantasi in moderation!

I do, however, think anda made some fair points about the negativity of her real world life. Bad family life vs. being able to live in a Fantasi land forever! And I think it's good that anda pointed out that anda would have made the opposite decision only if Toby was returned (like I said, it's not right to deprive him of leading a normal life). I think what would hold me back from staying is the fact that there's no turning back; at least in the real world, although life is a lot tougher, anda do have lebih freedom over your future (e.g. anda won't be stuck in one place for eternity). And anda still get to enjoy the goblin world from time to time.

Wow, sorry for the wordy response! But yeah. In short, I think Sarah made the right choice. Her life will be lebih challenging in the real world, but ultimately lebih rewarding too.

...yes? Jareth kidnapped her brother and almost let her die lebih than once just because he's a bored, pampered scene boy prince who has nothing better to do than pick on teenage girls. The movie made it clear all his promises are hollow.

And she'd be giving up Toby, who did nothing to deserve any of that.
