"The Call of Ktulu" was Metallica's saat instrumental song, following the first instrumental "(Anesthesia) Pulling Teeth" from Kill 'Em All. The song working tajuk was originally "When Hell Freezes Over".
The idea of the song "The Call of Ktulu" is based upon H.P. Lovecraft's book The Shadow over Innsmouth which was first introduced to the rest of the band sejak Cliff Burton. The song's name was taken from one of H.P. Lovecraft's main stories featuring Cthulhu, The Call of Cthulhu, which was written in 1928 for the magazine Weird Tales. The name "Ktulu" is originally written "Cthulhu" sejak H.P....

1981. - Lars Ulrich meets James Hetfield and after 5 months they founded a band.

Spring of 1982. - First live appearance, and same tahun they make their first demo recording "No Life 'til Leather"

Fall of 1982. - They notice Cliff burton at the konsert and they call him in the band instead of Ron McGovney.

March od 1983. - With their new bassist they make their new demo called "Megaforce"

April of 1983. - Because of alcoholism they kick Dave Mustaine out of the band, who founded Megadeth after that, and get replaced sejak Kirk Hammett.

July of 1983. - They siarkan their first album "Kill 'em All", band...
