The Dream
I was in a forest, alone. I cried out, but there was no one there to hear me. I wandered around, hoping to find someone. There in a tree, was a chameleon. “Unukalhai,” It cried frantically in Vindemiatrix’s voice, “Wake up!” I awoke.
I got up with a start. There was cold sweat on my forehead. Mia was looking down at me worriedly, I sat up, “Are anda okay?” she asked severely, her eyes were hard. “Fine.” I said. “I just had the weirdest dream.” I just realized what I was saying. If Vindemiatrix were a cat, her ears would have picked up. “Did anda say anda had a DREAM!?!” she was almost yelling.
Aundre shifted in his sleep. She pulled me down from the pokok with her and dragged me out of earshot. “A DREAM?!” She yelled. “Stars don’t have DREAMS!!” “It’s really not that big of a deal.” I berkata in a failed attempt to calm her down. “‘Not that big of deal’?!” She repeated in disbelief. “Do anda even HEAR YOURSELF?!? You’re becoming one of THEM!!!” she paced about. “One of what?” I asked trying to stay calm. “HUMAN!!” she screamed. “You’re becoming a HUMAN!! How do anda expect me, atau MOTHER, to be proud of a HUMAN?!?” “I know anda hate humans but--” she cut me off. She closed her eyes and put her hand to her forehead. “No, I don’t hate humans, I LOATHE humans!! Call me a racist, a chauvinist, whatever, I don’t care!!! But I DO care about MY sister betraying me and becoming HUMAN!!” she bellowed. She turned away and turned back to me; she was too wound up to keep still. “If ANYONE is betraying ANYONE, the traitor is YOU!!” I argued. “I could have handled this on my own but anda had to go and mess with VEGA!!!” “You don’t know what goes on in my life.” She hissed. “I wanted to HELP!!” she wailed. “And what a FINE job anda have done!!” I retorted. “You never let me do ANYTHING WITH YOU!! I never even SEE anda anymore!! Just because you’re the eldest, Mother gave anda EVERYTHING!!” She ranted. “Are anda KIDDING?!?” I hollered. “She gave anda everything!! She looked upon her youngest daughter with FAVOR!!” I mocked. “Plus, anda ran AWAY!!!” I glared at her. “Why do anda think I went to Vega?!? He offered to help!!” she claimed. “Why him?” I asked calming down. “I- I—wasn’t thinking.” She stammered. She was slowing down too. She clenched her fists again. “I was mad enough! And- and I--” she stamped her foot. “I WANTED to be WANTED!” she explained. “You wanted to be loved.” I observed. “Love is a MYTH.” She sneered. “Get rid of Aundre.” She ordered. “WHAT?!?” I objected. “He’s too much of a distraction.” She declared. “You’re jealous.” I taunted. “You’re jealous of me.” She looked at me darkly and threateningly with her big yellow eyes. “You did all this out of jealousy?” I snickered. “Jealous,” she laughed unconvincingly; “of you?” she saw that I had read her like a book and dropped the act. “Jealousy can make anda do a lot of crazy things.” She berkata darkly. “Don’t anda see?” I reasoned. “The reason anda didn’t get picked to be an angel, is because of selfishness. Goodness knows where anda got it from.” I grinned. “Well it has to start somewhere.” She berkata grimly. Aundre was awake and had been watching. He came over to us. “What’s going on?” he questioned. “Oh, nothing.” berkata Mia still peering at me. “Just having a little chat with your girlfriend.” She added, I believe a little jealously.
She turned to him. “Speaking of distractions…” she sprouted claws and lunged at him. I grabbed her sejak the shoulders, she swatted at me. I dodged. “I thought she would only try to kill me when she was crazy!” Aundre squawked. “She IS crazy.” I remarked. “If anda kill him on purpose it will be on your conscious.” I retorted. “It would have been on my conscious anyway!” she berkata struggling. “But TRUST ME, if I kill him I will sleep MUCH easier.” She swatted at him. “I’m sure that’s not true.” I berkata uncertainly. “Snap out of it!” “I assure you,” she growled. “I’m wide awake!” she swung at him again. “This is only,” she berkata breathing heavily, “9,000 years worth of oppressed feelings!” she screeched. “I know she won’t hurt you!” I muttered to Aundre. She stopped struggling and smiled brilliantly at me. “Wanna bet?” she teased. She jumped straight over me and lunged at Aundre. She slashed a deep wound in his chest. He cried out in pain as he fell. My sister panted heavily and dropped to her knees. I walked over calmly to tend to Aundre’s wound. She stood up, “I’m going for a walk.” She berkata bitterly as she stormed off into the woods.
I finally found a shallow cave near a creek we had overlooked the hari before. I made a api, kebakaran and laid Aundre down seterusnya to it. I couldn’t instantly heal a cut this deep, even with magic it would take at least a night atau so maybe a day. It was well passed night-fall when Mia stomped in. She flew past us and practically flung herself into the corner. She rubbed her eyes and glared at me across the room irritably. Her face, if possible, was paler than usual; she also had dark circles under her eyes. I knew she would regret what she had done. “How long has Vega been after you?” I interrogated. “Since I got there 3500 years ago.” She berkata happy to talk to someone, but still being very cold and distant. “Are anda quite sure that anda hated me for 9,000 years?” I asked carefully. “I may have hyperbolized that a bit. I hated you, ever since Vega pointed out to me things unnoticed.” She berkata despairingly, “And I never hated you.” She corrected. “You ACT like anda do.” I empathized. “Well I don’t.” she hissed angrily. “I didn’t MEAN it as an insult.” I assured her. She relaxed a bit. “Vega is using you.” I pointed out. “I know.” She berkata ruefully. I looked up at this. “For how long?” I asked. “Since I started thinking again.” She responded. “He knew anda would be the seterusnya ‘chosen one’.” She berkata miserably. “Did he?” I asked nonchalantly, secretly interested. “I was too good of an opportunity to pass up. Otherwise he would have made a deeper connection with me, to gain full control.” She confided. I must admit I was a bit surprised sejak how much she had perceived. “You were ‘Too good of an opportunity to pass up’,” I quoted. “You speak far too good of yourself.” “I know it.” She commented. “I can be quite full of myself at times.” “At times?” I teased. “You flatter yourself.” “Don’t I always?” she remarked. She smiled for the first time in quite a while. It was a small smile, but a smile nevertheless. “Of all people to go to anda picked HIM.” I told her. “It was a MISTAKE.” She berkata admittedly. Aundre woke up. The magic I was doing definitely helped. “Vindemiatrix,” he began, “You are the most complicated person I think I ever met.” I laughed, but of course, my sister took it as a threat.
Before anda could blink she was standing over him with one sharpened claw to his neck saying, “You want me to finish the job?” Aundre shuttered. She smiled menacingly, “Scared?” she taunted. She stroked his face with her claws and whispered, “You should be.” “No one is killing anyone until Aundre is back on his feet.” I warned. “It will only take one cut.” She added. She didn’t take her eyes off of him for a perpecahan, berpecah second. anda could almost see the thirst for blood in her eyes. “NO.” I berkata severely. She walked away; quite happy with herself about the scare she gave him. She sat in her corner, “Let me explain something to anda Aundre,” She berkata to him still smiling, “My sister and I have very different points of view. When Ashtaroth looks at you, she thinks, friend. When I look at you, I think, snack.” She grinned her amazingly brilliant smile. Aundre gulped. “I solemnly swear not to kill atau eat him until he is back on his feet.” She vowed. She flashed me huge grin. Aundre looked at her nervously. I didn’t believe her for a second.
In about 20 minutes, Aundre and Vindemiatrix were both asleep. It took me a bit longer with all of the thoughts running through my head; it had been an eventful day.
