X Factor heartthrob Liam Payne has been left devastated after his sister's boyfriend died after a fight with a Cinta rival.

Former soldier Craig Glaze, who was dating the One Direction star's sister Nicola, died after he was punched in the head.

It is alleged that Craig was confronted sejak his best friend Martin Gannon, an ex-lover of Nicola's who had just discovered Craig was dating her, on New Year's Day.

Craig, 25, died from a single punch to the head, police say.

Martin has been arrested and charged with manslaughter.

Craig and Martin, 24, were best pals and next-door neighbours who had known each other since the age of five and were both close to Liam's family.

Both the men and Nicola, 22, had been to support 17-year-old Liam during his live X Factor performances in November and December.

The killing has left Nicola, Liam and their close-knit family reeling - just when they were making plans for his career, with hugely popular One Direction set to be telah diberi a recording contract sejak Simon Cowell.

A sumber close to Liam said: "This is a real tragedy and has really upset Liam and his family.

"The pair were both Friends of the Payne family and it has left them all devastated that one of them has been killed and the other arrested.

"Liam was Friends with both and for one of them to die like this is just heartbreaking. To see another arrested is horrific as well
