“… and then I woke up in the back of my car. I drove here and the doctors called you. Are we done?”
The cops nodded and they left her room and as she curled up in the tightest ball she could manage, she felt the stitches on her shoulder blade pulling on her skin and it all came back to her. His hands traveling over her skin, pulling hard at her breasts, scratching their way through her skin. Sobs reeked through her body as she remembered his hot breath on her neck, the feel of his teeth bruising her and cutting into her skin, the things he told her, the names he called her…
Brooke Davis was no innocent virgin, but she didn’t deserve it, any of it. She was never going to be the same again, and as the tears cascaded down her face, she just wante to know why. Why would someone do that to her? She steadied her breathing, too scared to give in and let the tears run free because she knew that once she started she was never going to stop.
She had walked into that bar because she wanted to forget. Forget her cheating boyfriend, forget her cheating best friend, forget that her parents didn’t Cinta and that she had no one in the world. Now, she was lebih alone than she’d ever been before and it was not only the pain of losing her boyfriend and her best friend anymore, it was the pain of losing herself that left her feeling empty.
“Miss Davis?” Someone asked. A woman was standing on the door. Pretty, late 20’s, with a look on her face that berkata she had done this many times before. “I would like to talk to anda if that’s alright.” She walked closer to Brooke’s bed, as if not wanting to startle the girl. “My name is Anna. Is it okay if I call anda Brooke?”
Brooke wanted to be her usual self and not only tell this woman that it wasn’t okay for her to call her Brooke but also demand that she left the room immediately. Instead, she just stared at her with empty eyes.
The woman sat in a chair seterusnya to the bed, carefully folding her hands on her lap, and she started talking to her, telling her how it was not her fault, how she has a lot of people on her side who will make sure that she’ll be okay, how everything is going to be okay but all Brooke heard was “Blah blah blah, your life is over.”
“Can anda go?” she finally said. “Please just go, I can’t do this right now.”
The rape councilor nodded but didn’t move. “How old are anda Brooke?”
“What? I’m seventeen. Why? What does that have to do with anything? I just want to be alone.” Brooke’s voice broke as she quietly added: “Please?”
“You are a minor and in the hospital, we need to call someone to come and get you,” Anna said. “Can anda please give us your parents number?”
Brooke laughed bitterly. “They won’t come. They don’t even live in pokok Hill.”
“Any other family member?”
Brooke shook her head. “No.”
“There must be someone we can call for you,” Anna argued. Brooke sighed and closed her eyes. She didn’t want anyone to know but it was only a matter of time before someone in the hospital contacted her parents and Brooke was too scared that they would find out and not care.
“Maybe,” Brooke started, thinking of the only person she could think of who had acted like they cared recently. “Maybe there is someone.”
