I agree. i think he loved her, but he was never IN LOVE with her. On a certain level he will always love Brooke, but not romantically, just like leightonfan said, as a friend. His heart will always be Peyton's, and everyone including Brooke knows that. I think that's apparent.

Mizzfelisha...common, you're really making yourself look bad, lol. He never chose brooke over peyton. he chose brooke over anna. peyton wasn't even in the picture. she was busy with jake. When it came to choosing between brooke and peyton, he always chose peyton (s1e12 - and don't use 1.09 as an example - luke said he hid with brooke back then cause he was afraid of getting hurt again; and lastly...not to mention uh, let's see 601???).

The fact that they've shown no hints of residual true love since season 3. It was a great love, but it was a passionate young love that did not grow along with them. Therefore it fizzled out...

honestly, i think the phrase that "fits" what you're saying is just young love. i see immature love as the neyton "love". they didn't mesh well together, didn't progress with one another, didn't really want to be with one another - they kinda just were together...THAT was a high school love.

He loved her. And most people will have multiple loves before they settle down w/ their eventual life mate. Naley is an anomaly. Both Brucas and Leyton were in HS, both have their immature moments. I personally think that it was VERY mature to admit that their love was not the kind of love like whitey's...but I'd venture to say that Leyton's has not lived up to that notion of "nothing can come between us love" either. Lucas just walked away after proposing, and Peyton chose not to follow. And bc of that he was with Brooke in NYC when his 2nd dream came true...all 3 had changed since HS...and though drunk he kissed Brooke (So, there's a scene very reminiscent of the library scene just that Lucas initiated "drunk"; Peyton "near death", prob feeling drunk due to blood loss.lol But...remember a kiss ALWAYS means something! And I'd consider that just as much cheating on Peyton. I guess in summary, YES...Lucas REALLY, TRULY loved and still loves Brooke, but life/love isn't black and white...obstacles ALWAYS get in the way, its how you deal with them that matters. I don't agree that Leyton has overcome those obstacles, and when they have...its not been graceful IMO...S5 was example after example of immaturity (IMO) cheating, brash engagements, repressing feelings until its too late, being catty to the "other woman"...its all so juvenile. I think the finale and 6.01 followed in that same suit, which is why I still can't and won't support Leyton. I hope if they do continue with Leyton the writers will atleast do it justice!

Let's not forget why Brucas had their second chance in s2/3 - it was cause Peyton dumped him in s1 - for brooke. Season 4, you're just proving my point - Luke didn't even know Peyton still loved him at the moment - he didn't know till 408. One episode after Peyton told luke her true feelings, he had a moment of clarity, lol. Thanks for reminding me: "It was about simple clarity - Peyton and I were always meant for each other and every instinct to the contrary (a.k.a. dating brooke/anna) was a denial of the following truth: I am, and would ALWAYS be, in love with Peyton Sawyer."

Luke chose peyton in the beginning (1.12/13) and chose her in the end 6.01.
