It was January, and the school tahun picked back up. Glenn was still on crutches, but he was doing better. At one point, we saw some bullies picking on the new kid. Glenn said, "Come on. Let's get those bullies away from her." I said, "Good idea! I can't just stand and watch someone get bullied." The poor girl was already in the floor. The bullies were ready to beat her. Glenn berkata to the bullies, "Back off! I've got crutches, and I'm not afraid to use them!" The bullies backed away. I helped the girl to her feet. "Are anda okay?" I asked. She said, "Yeah. Thanks for standing up for me." I said, "You're welcome. I'm Autumn." Glenn said, "And I'm her friend, Glenn." She said, "I'm Joann." Through the remainder of the year, Glenn and I became good Friends with Joann. I even invited her to spend a night with me during the spring. At one point, we played Hide and Seek in the forest. I was counting, while she was looking for a place to hide. Suddenly, I heard her scream. I ran in the direction I heard the scream coming from, (I may not have the best eyesight, but I have excellent hearing). I found Joann sitting on the ground. She was crying. I asked, "Joann, are anda okay?" She said, "No, a snake bit me." I could see the wound. It looked terrible. I was scared, but I knew I needed to be calm to help her. Neither of us could drive then. We were still kids. In fact, I was barely a teenager. Joann's parents were out of town, so my aunt and uncle drove us to the hospital. On the way there, Joann fell asleep, despite my efforts to keep her awake. I was afraid she wasn't going to wake up, but she did. I waited anxiously in the waiting room with my aunt and uncle. I told them, "I hope she'll be okay. I can't lose her. She's the only friend I have besides Glenn." Thankfully, Joann was okay. The snake that bit her wasn't venomous. The wound was cleaned and patched up. When we settled in the bed, I said, "Joann, I was really scared I was going to lose anda today." She said, "But anda did a good job at keeping calm." I said, "I had to in order to help you." I was happy to know I had helped a friend and that she was all right. During the summer, I was wearing shorts, and Glenn noticed the scars on my leg. He asked how I got them, but I dodged the question. I just wasn't ready to admit that I cut myself to him at the time. I think he understood, too.
It was close to Christmas. The members of New Religion decided to go spend time was their families. Sadly, Erin's grandmother passed away. It was devastating for Erin. When New Religion picked up their tour, many people wanted to interview Erin. Lola said, "She Lost a loved one. How do anda think she's doing?!" Carl said, "Erin needs time to mourn her grandmother. She doesn't need a microphone in her face." Paul said, "She's been through so much. Leave her alone!" Erin thanked her Friends for standing up for her. She later said, "I now know how Paul McCartney felt after John Lennon got shot." Lola hugged her. Things did get better for Erin with time. She Lost so many she loved, but she kept going and never gave up.
No Stable Place
Aside from Uncle Bob, the only other family members who paid me any mind were my grandparents. My grandfather passed away about a tahun and a half after my father's untimely death. My grandmother lived until I started high school. When she was alive, I could always go to her with a problem. Every time I would have a bad hari at school, I would go to her. She would say, "Tell me what's wrong, John." I would tell her what was wrong, and she would make everything better. When she passed away when I started high school, I was devastated. Now I had no one to go to when I had a bad day. That's when my record listening became lebih frequent. Other than my dog, Beatle, it was my only sumber of comfort. I really missed having a person to talk to. I missed having someone who listened to me. When he wasn't working, I could call Uncle Bob and talk to him, but it wasn't the same. Grandma seemed to have an answer for everything. Nobody else seemed to have that gift.
