I'm not really sure about Elizabeth, but I always think of Mr. Darcy as Colin Firth. *melts*

I picture Jennifer Ehle (even though I like Keira better, I think Jennifer looks the part), Adrian Lukis, Anna Chancellor, Julia Sawalha, Crispin Bonham-Carter and David Bamber from 1995 version. Then I picture Matthew, Claudie Blakley, Judi Dench, Donald Sutherland, Rosamund Pike and the rest of the Bennet sisters from the 2005 version.

I read the book before I saw either of the movies, so I basically just pictured my own. Actually, I sorta ended up picturing characters that looked like the illustrations on the front cover, haha. And every time I reread it, I picture those people, never any actors.

Oooh. And to add to my above list Brenda Blethyn is exactly how I pictured Mrs. Bennet!

I had my own characters when I first read the book, as well. However, as soon as I saw an adaption (The 1995 miniseries was first), I couldn't get the images of the actors out of my mind. Same goes for many characters from books that they make into movies, like other Jane Austen novels, or, say, Harry Potter.

Film adaptations pretty much wreck my imagination :P

umm chel1395, id have to disagree with you on that one bout jen. i think her the best lizzie ever done. but it's your opinion. i just think jen just beats kiera hands down. jen portrays the character much better! plus jen is pretty, kiera is ugly. the character elizabeth was attractive.

Is it 'read' as in when I re-read the book, or 'read' as in the first time I read the book? Because the first time I read it, it was after I'd seen the 2005 movie on a Starz free preview weekend, so I had all the actors from that in my head. But when I read it again, I'd seen the 1995 one, so I had a mix of both. Now, I have a combination of both movies, and some of my own imagination.

I read the book and its more like the 1995 movie...but i loved the newer one..

I saw both and read the book and think the Pride and Prejudice 1995 cast is sooooooooooo much better.:D

Some of the characters I just imagine on my own... But like Elizabeth's Mother & Father I imagine them as the 1995 movie characters :)

I see Colin Firth as Darcy, and a mixture of Keira Knightley and Jennifer Ehle as Lizzy, which is quite weird as my mind seems to morph them together but it works! =D
I also read the book before seeing either P&Ps but I knew who played the main characters beforehand so it just got stuck in my mind. =]

I picture Mr Bennett, Lydia, Lady Catherine and Mrs Bennett from the 1995 version; Mr Wickham and Mr Darcy from 'Lost In Austen' (no shame), and for all other characters, my imagination works its wonders.

I picture Caroline and Mr & Mrs Hurt (obviously) and Wickham from the 1995 version.
But i imagine everyone else to be from the 2005 movie.

Well, the 2005 movie version inspired me to read the book, so it were all the 2005 characters from the movie I imagined, which I think are fabulous!!!
