Let me explain, when the Edo era came around, that was the real Renaissance for Japan, not it's midevil years. During the Edo era, Jepun started building lebih and lebih on it's culture because of the lack of wars, the samurai however had a hard time making money. The Meiji era is Japan's industrial revolution, western countries brought in technology such as trains, clocks, rifles, as well as it's culture. Jepun quickly became a world power. Japan's 'midevil' era (Assuming there was one.) would probably have been ether the Azuchi–Momoyama period, atau the Muromachi period.
