Back then African Americans didn't really get ANY major roles of ANY KIND but Dorothy was the first one who actually had a major role. She unfortunately didn't win. She lost to Grace Kelly, despite other MUCH more talented actresses being nominated, the others being Audrey Hepburn and my personal favorite, Judy Garland. But Dorothy didn't care that she didn't win, she was just proud to have been the first black woman to be nominated for Best Actress and to have been in a major role instead of just a small supporting role. She pushed the boundaries but unfortunately couldn't make it too big because she was black. She was admired for her talent and her beauty but still had the prejudice against her. But she opened up the opportunity for other black celebrities like Whitney Houston, Beyonce, Halle Berry, and MANY MORE! The list goes on!

But I'm also proud of Keke. She was actually inspired by Brandy in her movie adaptation of Cinderella. Keke made broadway history and gave a phenomenal performances. She showed that she really can act and sing classically and not just pop. She's very versatile. But, while this was definitely revolutionary, it cannot compare to what Dorothy did.

I'm very proud of Keke, but that cannot compare to what Dorothy did.
