So many of anda may know that a Skulduggery Pleasant movie IS planned, and the rights to the film have been sold to Warner Bros. However, very little is known about what the actual film will be like.
So far, it has been confirmed that Derek Landy will be Penulisan the screenplay, so it is selamat, peti deposit keselamatan to assume the film will be as true to the book as possible. DL has sebelumnya experience Penulisan screenplays, including the non-family friendly Boy Eats Girl starring Samantha Mumba.
Originally the film was planned for release in 2010, and to be filmed in 2009. This has since been set back with casting and script finalization this year, filming 2010, and eventual release in 2011. peminat-peminat still have a while to wait yet!
But the soalan on everyone's lips is who is going to play who. DL has hinted that there will be open auditions for the character of Valkyrie Cain / Stephanie Edgley. There are no rumours yet on Ghastly, Tanith atau any of the other characters besides the one and only Skulduggery.
DL has berkata he would like Johnny Depp to voice Skulduggery, but it has not been yet confirmed that he will. A lebih baru-baru ini rumour is saying that James Nesbitt may be voicing the main character. SP himself is supposedly a mix of anamatronics and CGI, a la the Dinosaur in Jurassic Park.
DL has berkata that he has been in talks with Steven Spielburg himself to direct the film.
So thats it on the updates! I'll add lebih as I hear it.

valkyrie_cainx Hey, Well, I'm not sure when they're gonna be out, but I'm an actress (I've been in a few things) And my agent is looking into it for me! :D Not sure if they're gonna be open or not though! :) Gd luck to ya'll if u audition! But yh, I do have jet black, long hair, brown eyes, pale skin and I lived in Dublin until I was 10! So still have a bit of an Irish accent and can put one on when I want! :) XXX

Jackie_Contrary I have heard it is coming out in 2013 but nothing has happened I doubt if they will even start filming by nxt summer. I have sent a letter (last week) to derek landy asking about tryouts, so I will keep every one posted. but I bet if we all pester enough her may actually start tryouts. I went on Imdb but there is no info for non members and even then the only thing it has for the non members is that the release date is not set(2013) and they dont have any final actors and the only one being debated is Depp. I am waiting three months for a reply for the letter then I get to be disappointed.

JaydenxevenSP i think apart from johnny depp as skulduggery, i reckon the rest of the cast should be all unknowns it would probably make the film more unique unlike any other like the books, and we wont be focusing on the actors e.g if the rock played ghastly (no bloody way is he doin that) we would be thinkin 'hmm i wonder if he learned that move in the wrestling ring' or 'hes not as good in this film as that thing'. I think we need fresh actors and fresh opinions so that we can view the skulduggery movie as intended, a completely indipenent movie, it stands alone and i know johnny depp cancels that out a bit but you only hear his voice and in the flashbacks they can use a different actor who is also an unknown because ill never call johnny depp skulduggery pleasant, his voice is as far as ill go. Hes american anyway, isnt he? I think that would throw everything out of wack, i think the cast should at least be from the UK, at best, ireland

IAmDarquesse @seeleyboothbone Yes, actually. Warner Bros. backed out on letting The Golden God write it, so they no longer own the writes. Derek is unwilling to let it be made into a movie unless he is the writer, so he's being extra cautious about the rights to it for the moment. Unfortunately, this means no movie for us. Personally, I think Benedict Cumberbatch should be Skulduggery, and Ivy Animosity/Valkyrie V. Cain should be Val. :)

ValduggeryFTW So I saw on the skulduggery forum page that they asked Derek about the movie thing. Apparently, Derek said that there MAY not be a movie because he let I think it was Warner Brothers and a few other companies try writing the script, and when they showed Derek, he was HORRIFIED. Apparently, they were so terrible that one of the scripts gave Skulduggery a DANCE NUMBER. Imagine that lol! But hopefully Derek will continue with the movie. Stay Positive :)

Sooo I decided to make a group on Roblox called "Skulduggery Pleasant XD". It's up-to-date and even active! It may have a few spoilers as its hard to talk about the book without berkata spoilers. I've been struggling to get members seeing as Skulduggery peminat-peminat are so spread out. I would really appreciate it if anda joined! ^_^
