After everyone had retired to their rooms for the night, John slipped a note under Clara's door asking her to meet him in the lounge. He sat for a couple of minit with the api, kebakaran to keep him warm, thinking about what to say to her. He heard her footsteps on the staircase. She gentle pushed open the door.
'Clara?' She poked her head around the door frame. 'Hi.'
'Hi.' She went and stood sejak the fire. 'You wanted to see me?' He noticed her body was slightly turned away from him, trying not to make eye contact.
'Are anda ok?'
'I'm fine, why wouldn't i be?'
'Because anda haven't spoken a word to me all evening, anda left straight after makan malam, sister without even a goodnight.'
'I was tired, John.' He rose from his kerusi, tempat duduk and made his way to the fireplace. 'I wanted an early night.'
'We both know that's not true. I'm sorry if i made anda feel awkward about the whole family situation but anda have to admit that it's a bit of a difficult topic to discuss.' Clara took his hand in hers.
'I know. I just felt like such a fool, bring up something which could possibly never happen for us. I just get so caught up in my own head.' He raised her head to look at him.
'I Cinta how anda dream so big.' He leaned in and kissed her. 'I just think we should take it one step at a time.'
'Of course.' They smiled at each other then went back up to their rooms. John tried not to wake Melody. He gently slid in beside her and thought of nothing but Clara for the rest of the night.
When morning came round, Clara was up early as always to help the children get ready for the day. After she had attended to them, she went to give Mr Roberts his daily paper.
'Here's today's new, Mr Roberts.'
'Thank you, Clara.' As she turned to leave, she spotted the plans for the new stable on his desk.
'Expanding sir?'
'Hmm?' He looked up from his paper. 'Oh yes, I've been thinking about it for awhile now.'
'It sounds impressive.' She skim-read the documents when she spotted John's name.
'You ok?'
'Yeah, sorry. I'll see to the children.' She got out of there as quickly as she could. Why was John's name on the document and was he ever planning on telling her about it? She needed to find out for herself
