Netflix Picks Up Fourth & Final Season of ‘The Following’

As many of you know Fox’s former hour long cult murder mystery drama staring Kevin Bacon,  Shawn Ashmore, & James Purefoy was cancelled a few weeks back.  

Since then network execs have remained tight lipped about a possible revival.  

, created by Kevin Williamson, was a breakout hit when it launched in early 2013 and finished the 2012-13 season as the highest rated new broadcast series in adults 18-49.

Today in an exclusive interview with What’s On Netflix & Deadline Hollywood a source close to the project has confirmed the series will indeed be headed to Netflix for a fourth and final season.  

There had been talk of a possible new life on the Netflix competitor HULU, which carries previous seasons of the Fox drama, however those talks hit a standstill when HULU confirmed they would be unable to afford all-star Kevin Bacon’s monster salary.

The Following was rescued by way of a joint distribution deal with FOX and Netflix, and is set to begin filming later this year.
