The Hobbit’s latest sequel entitled The Battle of Five Armies is first at the box office for the third weekend in a row and made $ 23 million dollars so far which is great success during the Christmas and New Year season. Disney also has a new title – Into the Woods, and Universal is introducing Angelina Jolie’s latest movie Unbroken, both very successful and Woman in Black 2: Angel of Death made around $ 15 million this season. According to the box office list, The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies will be making around $ 23 million at the end of the first weekend of 2015, only making around $ 9 million during the Christmas weekend. Peter Jackson’s masterpiece made $ 200 million in US grosses on Friday and should finish the weekend with $ 222 million. Only after two weeks of screening, Five Armies is on the eighth place among movies that have been shown during 2014. Five Armies made $ 457.8 million worldwide – $ 62 million in Germany and $ 52 million in the United Kingdom after only three weeks in theatres. The China premiere is scheduled for January 23rd. Into the Woods directed by Rob Marshal and Unbroken by Angelina Jolie will be fighting for the second place at the box office; Disney is expected to made around $ 20 million until the end of the week. The movie was made with a budget of $ 50 million and is expected to make $ 90 million in total across the United States. The Australia premiere is scheduled for January 8th and the United Kingdom premiere for January 9th. Angelina Jolie made Unbroken with a budget of $ 65 million and is also expected to earn a lot locally and worldwide. Paramount’s latest movie Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones made around $ 18 million so far. Fox’s latest movie Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb made around $ 4.5 million and is expected to make $ 12 million until the end of this weekend. The comedy will be making $ 85 million in total including all screening over the United States.
