Gwentrend24 ^ I believe that was Greasy Say. Um, also, I don't believe that Foxface and Katniss ran into each other in the book, but in the movie they did. In the book Thresh kills Clove with a rock. But, in the movie, he kills Clove by smashing her head up against the Cornacopia. Um, in the book, Peeta's gash was large and vertical, but in the movie, it was large and horizontal, I think... In the book, Rue never stole Cato's knife, in the movie: She did. Also Rue never urges Katniss about her and Peeta's love life. She also mentions a little more about District 11 in the book then the movie. Katniss sings the whole song to Rue in the book, but only a portion of it to Rue in the movie. Buttercup is supposed to be orange, but in the movie he is black and white. I'm pretty sure either Peeta or Haymitch throws a punch on the train, other than Haymitch just putting his foot on Peeta's chest. In the book there are a lot more kisses between Peeta and Katniss. They never flash back to Gale sighing back in District 12 when they kiss too. Something about President Snow, but I forgot while I was typing... :P Oh, Katniss never receives the bread from her District nor Rue's District. And it isn't really mentioned how the mutts reminded Katniss of the fallen tributes. That's all I can remember right now.

kabalah70 Well, simply put, the entire book and books for that matter are written in the first-person perspective, that being Katniss's. The movie is done in third-person omniscient allowing for scenes that never occurred in the book, but were nonetheless events that happened, i.e. killing of Seneca Crane, any scene showing the games on a screen, etc. In fact, I think there are very few, if any scenes actually shot from her perspective at all. Although most of them do have her present. It simply is a matter of the Hollywood way of doing things, one does not film the leading role as a person not on screen. The only time we would see Katniss is when she was standing in front of a mirror. The whole subplot behind Peeta's leg is lost because of the movie medicine that heals it completely instead of him losing it. Something that is going to have to be worked around for the next movies. Time compression especially at the final scenes at the Cornicopia. One could probably come up with hundreds of differences, msotly deletions of detail material because the movie would be many hours long. The only seriously problematic change IMHO is Peeta's leg.

Flutey_Girl96 Haymitch doesn't do his drunken head-dive off the stage in the movie. I know, there's safety concerns with that, but uit would have been funny to see. Actually, now that I think about it, I don't recall him showing up at the Reaping at all. Is that true, or have I just gone crazy? One problem with them leaving out Madge - they're gonna have to think of an amazing way for Katniss to find out about the uprisings in Catching Fire, unless they completely leave that part out as well
