The Phantom of The Opera Soalan

If Christine loved the Phantom, why didn't she stay with him?

I have a problem understanding why so many people are saying that Christine loves the Phantom and not Raoul. I mean, if she did Cinta him, why didn't she stay with him? Some berkata it's because Raoul was a safer choice, some berkata it's because the Phantom told her to go, but if she loved him, she wouldn't have let him all miserable like that. Christine has a heart, after all...

Yes, Christine loved the Phantom but not in the way she loved Raoul. Because of the misunderstanding of the alw version, especially because of the film, and now because of that shit lnd everybody thinks that Christine was in Cinta with the Phantom. No, she wasn't. She loved him, but not like anda Cinta your boyfriend atau your husband atau anything like that. She started to Cinta him because of this "angel of music" thing. The phantom meant a lot for Christine, especially because of the loss of her daddy and Erik being like a replacement father figure while he was the Angel of Muzik for her, but he was not a Cinta interest. Well, her feelings may change from heavenly Cinta to a lebih earthly kind of Cinta (for example during The Muzik of the night) but it's still not that feeling what anda feel for your Cinta interest. anda Cinta a lot of people in your life and anda Cinta each of them differently. But personally I believe that if Christine really loved the Phantom the way that lot of people thinks, then she would have stayed with him, no matter if Raoul is there. She had to choose the man she loved and she chose it and non of us has the right to blame her for it.

Well, I must say I totally agree with everything anda say. Well, apparently the original ALW musical (with Crawford and Brightman) had absolutely no ambiguity in it, and in it, Christine seemed lebih scared of the Phantom than anything else. And the 2004 movie... some say there's an ambiguity in it, but I honestly don't see how. Even there, it's obvious that Christine loves Raoul and not the Phantom, and that she only saw the latter as a father figure. Gosh, Schumacher even berkata that Gustave Daaé/Ramin Karimloo and Gerik were physically alike on purpose.

Yes anda are right. That's why I prefer the Michael Crawford/Sarah Brightman version to the movie. Personally I don't like that film but yes I'm sure that it made it obvious that Christine loved Raoul. As for the ambiguity, I hate that when people just oversexualize their relationship because I think it detracts from the meaning of the story to think lebih into it than what it really is. .

Now that my sister came utama from camp (of her English language orientated school which is very ironic in this case) I was finally able to rephrase my answer with her help. I wanted to say that Christine feels a strong connection with the Phantom because of the fact that he was a kind of replacement father and during The Muzik of the night her feelings about this connection chenge because her Angel finally turns out to be a man, but she still feels that Cinta what she used to feel for her Angel. (I can't believe how difficult it was to gather this in words but finally it1s done. XD)
