I don't think it's anywhere near as exciting as the first two seasons. To be fair to the actors themselves, I don't think we've seen enough expert riding from them, which is probably why they seem like they're not great riders - there was a lot more action and adventure in the older episodes!
There are some things I like about season 3 (like some of the new characters, and the songs) but the main reason I became interested in the old seasons as a kid (other than it being about horses and horseriding!) was that the storylines were exciting and there was a lot of action. I don't dislike season 3, but I don't think it's as interesting or as thrilling as the first couple of seasons.
