Chapter Four
Dakota glanced at herself in her long vanity. She had chosen to wear the white skinny pants, a merah jambu baju singkat, halter top, and a spageti strap baju underneath the baju singkat, halter top. She had on her merah jambu high tops. Her hair was down and curly. She looked decent but she didn't want to be decent. She wanted to be extraordinary. The kalung with the red lips at bottom would be the perfect accessory to make her outfit great. She turned back to the mirror to only find a pale figure standing behind her. Dakota whirled around to face the intruder.
'Hmm,' thought the ghost. 'I like it. Only on anda though. Hazel doesn't have the curves like anda do.' Dakota blushed.
"Thanks. It was inspired sejak you." Dakota fumbled with the necklace. Telling things like that to Abigail was an automatic death sentence. She did not know how to keep a secret.
'Yep, I can tell.' Abigail stared up and down at Dakota. 'I wore something extremely similar to that the first hari of school last year. All the boys that I was cute except for Connor. He did not komen on my outfit. Then he tried to make me jealous sejak complimenting Hazel. He told me that he was trying to make me jealous.' Abby gripped Dakota's hand and pulled her to the window.
"How are anda able to touch me?" Dakota asked stunned. "Aren't anda like dead."
Abby ignored her soalan and pointed to a nearby tree. 'Life goes sejak so fast. I realized that too late but I do not want for that to happen to you. That pokok is one of the many places me and Connor had kissed.'
She dragged her downstairs and to Dakota's couch. Thankfully, her parents were not up yet and neither was her sister. 'This is another place where me and Connor had a moment. God I miss him!' A way to tell if a ghost is depressed is when they start to hunch over and they begin to make a loud moan that could be heard from China. Dakota didn't know how to relieve her friend of her sadness.
"Come to school with me. Then anda can see Connor." Dakota looked to see if there was any change in Abigail's expression but nothing. The moaning became lower and softer.
'That would be nice." She stood up straight and stared into Dakota's eyes. 'I am linked to you. I wish I could see him whenever I want to but sadly I am linked to you. I wonder why though. anda better eat Hazel will be here any minute.'
Dakota made herself some microwave lempeng, penkek and had some susu to go along with it. The whole time Dakota was eating, Abigail was glancing at her eat. anda could almost detect sorrow in her pale features. It was just to hard to tell. When Dakota had finally finished the uncomfortable meal, a thunderous honk came from outside followed sejak some yelling and loud music. "There is my ride. Are anda coming?" With a slow nod Dakota and Abigail marched to Hazel's silver convertible.
"Hey girl!" greeted Hazel. She turned the volume down when Everybody Talks sejak Neon Trees came on. She was not a big peminat of Neon Trees. "I am also giving Reese a lift to school. Her mom and dad are sick and her brother has to stay utama and take care of them. What a saint he is."
'The same ole Hazel. Always thought she could get any boy she wished,' dikomen Abigail. Dakota had hide the smile was on her face.
"Okay I have to tell anda something." It became extremely serious when Hazel had berkata that. "This is a secret that I have kept for a very long time and I want anda to be the first to hear it."
"What is it?" Dakota questioned.
"I . . . I think that . . . that I should gooutwithConnor." The last part came out together but Dakota understood it perfectly.
'No! Don't let her do it!' screamed Abby. She sat in the backseat while Dakota was in the passenger seat. 'He is mine and we will be together again.'
"Where is all of that coming from?" Dakota asked.
"It is a long story." She turned back towards the road. Soon they had arrived at Reese's glamorous house. "Hey Reese," greeted Hazel.
Dakota was still in shock so she mumbled a hello and continued to stare out the window while Reese went to the backseat. Abigail's ghost was officially gone. It must have been too much for her.
Hazel Portwood and Connor Myrick strolled side sejak side down the almost empty halls of Brunswick High School. They weren't talking but it was a nice silence. It gave them time to actually think about them as an item. That seemed to be the only thing that Connor thinks about. He had no clue why he was suddenly having these feelings. They weren't suddenly. The feelings about been developing since he had saw her freshmen tahun so it was nothing new. He had to lie and say every compliment he had ever telah diberi Hazel was to make Abigail jealous. It was not true but he was going out with Abigail at the time so he had to say something.
"I've been thinking lately," he said. He stopped walking and so did Hazel she turned and glanced at him. "I know it has been a secret between us for the longest but shouldn't we make it public now? There is no Abigail to stop us."
Hazel stared at him before answering. She was thinking over everything that was wrong with that proposal but that didn't help change her mind about how she felt towards Connor. "I don't know," she muttered. Looking for a way out of this conversation she realized the halls were empty. "I should get to class." Without looking back she dashed into English Class.
At the front of the room was a buff police officer. His badge read Hanson. He had stern amber eyes, fluffy black hair, and a deep frown on his face. This man meant business. He was the type of people that no matter what they did Hazel would forever hate them. Hazel was a rebel at hati, tengah-tengah so it was her life mission to give this man hell. She took the kerusi, tempat duduk between Reese and Dakota.
"As I was saying before some late tart showed up, the police department is obligated to inform everyone here that your beloved friend and classmate Abigail's body is missing. It seemed to have happened between past night and this morning. We have no clue who has done it but just remember that grave robbing is a criminal action." He faces our teacher and she nodded her head.
"There is more. We have reasons to believe that Abigail's killer goes to this school. We are running a background check on everyone here seterusnya week and if anda do not tunjuk up then we know who to arrest." Officer Hanson eyeballed everyone in the room. anda could tell that his left eyeball was a glass one.
"But sir," Hazel berkata in her innocent girl voice. "What if I didn't kill Abigail but I just don't want to come to school seterusnya week." There were some snickers around the classroom. Even their teacher had to force her smile to turn into a frown.
"Are anda trying to be smart with me young lady?" he questioned. His voice was so deep and frightening that all the giggles stopped. "Do anda know what happens to smart mouth kids like yourself? They end up in jail locked up in a small, cell room where I beat them with my baton." He had walked closer to Hazel and he was so close to her face that should could smell the onions he had for lunch. "I would Cinta to see your expression when my baton knocks the light out of you. I have been itching to hit something with my baton. I am not a person anda want to mess with." Mrs. Crowe, the teacher, pulls him away from the stunned Hazel.
"Now Officer Hanson, that is not how we talk to our students. Please continue with your business and then leave," Mrs. Crowe berkata sternly. She might be old but she was one tough woman.
"You're right," he admitted. "Anyways, Mr. and Mrs. Dalton and their daughter, Gwendolyn have come to speak to the class." He opened the door to reveal all three of the remaining Daltons. Mrs. Dalton was softly crying on her husbands baju while the strong, calmed Gwendolyn did not weep. She did most of the talking.
"Hello everyone," she greeted. "I am Gwendolyn Dalton, Abigail's older sister. I just want to make sure that if any of anda have a clue what has happened to my sister's body, please tell me now." Hazel was only saat away from giving herself in but she didn't take the body. She was there at her grave last night with Connor but she was positive that she didn't take the body. What use would she have for it? Reese wanted to say that Hazel probably dis it because Reese had seen her near the grave site. Then Dakota wanted to say that it was most likely Reese who took the body.
"If anda have any information please call my number atau drop sejak the house." She stopped talking as a single tear rolled down her rosy cheeks. "That is all," she croaked. The family left leaving the class deep in sorrow even the officer had nothing left to say so he also left.
That afternoon, Dakota Sterling went over to Reese Kingston's home. Hazel had no clue she was over here and Dakota had jo clue where Hazel was. Their friendship was slowly drifting apart and Dakota didn't think she could handle anything after Abby's death. It was even harder when the family showed up. She hadn't seen atau heard from Abby's ghost all hari today and it was killing her. Could this have something to do with the grave robbery?
The only reason why Dakota had come over was for a science project. The last thing she wanted to do was to be here. She came only for the chance to ask Reese's parents and brothers about her. She desired to know lebih about Reese and why she loathed Abigail so much. Almost no one hated her and if they did they usually kept it to themselves. Who knows what this girl has been doing before she knew Dakota and Hazel. She was about to find out.
Dakota glanced at herself in her long vanity. She had chosen to wear the white skinny pants, a merah jambu baju singkat, halter top, and a spageti strap baju underneath the baju singkat, halter top.
