okay let me clarify using the example of spuffy

if you say "i don't like spuffy, i prefer bangel" then fair enough i'm still your best bud
if you say "demons can't love" "buffy never loved him back" "the end of season 6 was about the chip"
then i will get exceptionally defensive because all of the statements about ARE FALSE, thats when i get debating :D (joker that wasn't a stab at you, ya know we love you)

Not always, but I certainly do if they put down one of the characters or if they're just mean or snide in doing so.

There are so many fans of the "oposite" ship that I really like!But when ppl start talking bad about your favourite couple it's very irritating!

Haha debs. I do get defensive on some of my favorite couples, which my fellow Spuffy fans know, but other's not so much.

I get defensive all the time about my fave couples. I HATE it when people say something and then you ask them tp back it up with facts and they say the EXACT same thing again.

Yes, but I know I'm rude about other couples. Well, not really couples but a specific character. But I have my reasons!
I wouldn't go talk about how I hated a certain character/couple on it's own spot though, that's soooo rude when people do that!

I hate it when people go against my fave ships, but sometimes I'm just as bad lol. Sometimes I just can't help but hate ships.

I'm with Debs, I may not support what you say but if you can back it up and refrain from just bashing another couple, I have no problem with you and while I'll debate with you, I won't cringe when I see you've started a forum or some such thing. I do have problems when people directly attack my ships and then have nothing to say except that I'm wrong and it's obvious that I should see things their way.

Well if someone gets really mean, or offends me, I can get quite.. err.. well lets just say that I am sortof passionate about my couples.
But I usually just scream at my computer, I try not to lash out at other fanpoppers, even if they are being really immature. Because I don't want people to know how immature I really am! LOL
But I admit, I have said mean things myself :(

well sometimes....i don't mind if someone tells me in a nice way :)...but if they start to bash one of the characters i like in the couple or are calling me and idiot for likeing that couple then there will be hell to pay :)....i will admit that i like some odd couples but sometimes people just get on my nerves.

yes! course i do!! most of the couples i like dont have wars against them though! its only leyton that i really have to defend! some of the arguments there piss me off!! its like your explain to them how there wrong and they just dont listen - they carry on going round saying the same shit youve proved them wrong about!! soo annoying!

obviously if someone sits there insulting my favorite couples- i get defensive. of course people aren't always going to like the same thing you like about a tv show- which is fine and inevitable, but it's the way people approach the topic. for example, there will be a pick asking something about why you like brucas (brooke and lucas from OTH) and i'll answer the pick....and then ill say some leyton fans responding "OMG brucas is over, get over it!"....and im like "are you serious? did you really need to write that?" who cares if a couple isn't on screen together anymore, that doesn't mean you have to stop liking them. other couples i love weren't together when the show ended....buffy and angel, willow and tara, kelly and brandon, brenda and dylan--- it doesn't matter if they are together anymore onscreen, they once were and thats why fans like them. or when people say "brucas was only about sex"....i often wonder if we watch the same show. OTH fans are definitely the worst about this....

at least my major love, buffy the vampire slayer, most fans are more respectful than OTH fans. if someone says "bangel is annoying"....it bothers me a little, but how can i refute that statement? it's an opinion. i can't tell the person what annoys them. but if they say "buffy stopped loving angel and only loved spike in season 7"...well then there are facts to disprove that theory (not to say she didn't love spike also....i don't hate spuffy, i'm just not the biggest spuffy fan and i much prefer bangel....but i guess that's cause there's nothing i hate about BtVS- it's perfect haha)
just the same as when i say (which i don't say often cause i don't try to piss fans off): i just didn't feel the connect and love between buffy and spike enough to really fall in love with them as a couple....that's my opinion and it can't be supported by facts or quotes because it's about a feeling you get from the show--- not necessarily the message that was supposed to be portrayed.

mostly it just bugs me so much when people are so rude and especially when they state their opinions as facts, and their incorrect facts as truthful
