Chapter 5 - Anxious
I was edgy the rest of the week waiting for Saturday to come. I couldn’t eat. I couldn’t sleep. I couldn’t concentrate. My mama noticed, of course. She kept asking if I was ok and I replied every time that I was just fine. I don’t think she bought it.
When I got utama form school on Thursday, I heard the phone ringing. I rushed to the phone and picked it up just before the answering machine did.
“Hello?” I asked breathlessly.
“ Hi, Wendi. How are you?” Stefan asked me.
I didn’t know why he was calling but I didn’t care, he was calling.
“ I’m fine, thank you. How are you?” I berkata politely.
“ Just great. I just want to tell anda that tomorrow night is still on and I’m looking ke hadapan to it.” he told me enthusiastically. I couldn’t really believe that he was looking ke hadapan to seeing me.
“ Oh, I was looking ke hadapan to it, too. I can’t wait.”
He asked me where I would like to go and of course, I berkata anywhere. I didn’t care as long as he was there… whoa. Wait a minute. I have only known this guy for less than a week and I feel this way. I was definitely out of my mind.
“ Are anda there?” He asked, concerned. I had Lost myself in my thoughts.
“Yeah, I’m sorry, I was just thinking.” I replied quickly. He asked me what I was thinking about but I knew I would never tell him the truth.
“ Oh nothing. Just spacing out.”
“ Well, I have to go tend to some business. I will definitely see anda tomorrow.” He berkata this eagerly, like he actually wanted to see me.
“Of course, and I need to go, too.” I replied sadly.
“ Bye, Wendi. I’ll talk to anda tomorrow.”
“ Bye, see ya.”
I dashed upstairs to put my buku away and do my homework before I started dinner. I went downstairs and chopped up some chicken for chicken tenders. When my mother walked into the kitchen, makan malam, majlis makan malam was almost ready and the meja, jadual was set.
We ate makan malam, majlis makan malam without saying much. Silence never bothered me. I enjoyed it. Mama, on the other hand, I think it upset her a little bit. I was a quiet loner, though anda would never know it. I tried to be social and I was fairly popular but I would MUCH rather be a loner.
I showered and dressed for katil quickly with a heavy fog of sleepiness over my mind. As I lie down I felt myself slip into unconsciousness.
When I woke up, I was amazed at my dreamless sleep. I was grateful for it, however. I dressed in a black, v-neck, long-sleeved baju and a pair of dark denim jeans. It was still chilly, so I added a red and black, plaid, stylish, double-breasted jaket over my ensemble. I felt good about myself. When I was done styling my shoulder length brunette hair into a straight style that curved around my face and putting my make up on, I headed out to get into my red tukar, boleh tukar BMW and set off to school, going too fast.
