I think Johnson is a very underrated president. He did so much more than JFK and while vietnam did damage his legacy, he was the one who did more for social change since FDR's time and Johnson also deserves a lot of credit because he passed major civil rights legislations. And he wisely predicted that the Democrats would lose the south for that.


Also Richard Nixon
I know he wasn't the most charismatic president nor was ethics his strongest suit. But the presidents before (including Kennedy) did some unsavory things too but they were never discovered.

Nixon was cerebral. He rose to prominence on his own doing, he didn't come from a wealthy family. He had perspicacity. During his presidency, he helped end the war in Vietnam. He established diplomatic relations with China (the famed Open Door policy) despite him being staunchly anti-communist. Diplomacy was supreme in his foreign policy.

-passed womens' rights legislations

He was re-elected on a landslide and had it not been for watergate he would've been remembered as a great president.

One of the most inspirational, populous and charismatic presidents of all time. He progressed our country a lot and he paid the ultimate price for it.
