A few more details: protagonist is in high school, tough, but also sweet, highly intelligent, and tends not to care about her appearance (even though I obviously care). Regardless of the color, her hair will be straight and shoulder-length.

I'm turning to you because this has been bugging me for weeks and I cannot decide! I'm really torn because the protagonist in the other story I'm writing is a brunette, but being a brunette myself (and since the story is in first-person) I relate to a brunette better. Not that hair color is that important, but this is bugging me. Obviously.

Okay, in all seriousness, I feel you. Being an artist, I give a bit of importance to appearance (just in my drawings-- I try not to fill the entire story with descriptions), so hair and eye color is always a pain for me. It literally took me two years to decide what my two protagonists looked like. Thankfully, it doesn't take that long with other characters, haha.

Anyway, if I absolutely had to pick for you, I'd pick brown hair, or some shade of it: there's dark brown, light brown, etc, etc. You could also pick something between brown and blonde; caramel, for example.

Make it pure white! I don't know, I just have this thing for pure snow white hair.
