"Jenny!" Lian yelled, running into my arms.
"Lian!" I exclaimed. "Thank God you're okay." I had to remind myself that it wasn't her fault that my boyfriend cheated on me.
I wiped away the tears that fell down her eyes. "What happened to you?"
"Hairy man took me, and I ran away!" she wailed.
"Shh," I hushed, hearing something. "Do anda hear that?"
"Hear what--?"
"Shh!" I hissed. A very familiar laughter thundered in my ears. I heard it coming from a run-down shack.
"Come on!" I urged, taking her hand. We ran into the shack, and looked around. It was filled with garden tools, and all such.
"Gardens, in a ghost town?" I knelt down to a small rake that was left on the ground.
Suddenly, handcuffs flew onto my wrists, burning them. I fell to the ground, and Lian screamed.
The cackles were getting closer. I recognized them so much, that I was starting to get horrified.
"Lian!" I hissed. "You have to get out of here, it's not safe."
"But what about you?" she whimpered.
"I'll be alright," I said.
"Pinky promise?" she asked, her mouth quivering.
I moved my hand toward hers and crossed pinkies. "I promise, now go!" I used laser eyes to burn a hole through the wall, and she crawled out safely.
"Well, it's fun to play Hero, isn't it?" the Joker emerged out of the darkness, a smile upon his face.
I struggled with my handcuffs, even though I knew it was useless.
"Remember them?" he knelt closer. "They were the same handcuffs I had telah diberi anda two years ago!" He looked away dreamily. "Ah, it feels as if it was yesterday that I was beating anda to a pulp..."
"You're not very original," I commented. "A broken shack. Handcuffs? Next, you're gonna beat me with that crowbar!"
"Doesn't that seem original to you?" It was a rhetorical question.
"First Jason Todd, then Erica Richards, and now me. Do anda call that original?" I was trying to stall him, as terrified as I was.
He chuckled. "Well, this time it's different, I promise." He pulled a handle out of his pocket, then pressed a button. Green light glowed from the handle, in the shape of a blade.
I groaned. "Do anda have Kryptonite for EVERY household object?"
He squeezed my face in his hand. "Maybe I should cut out that tongue of yours, but then I wouldn't hear your snooty remarks..."
He raised the blade, and cut my face, revealing a scar. I saw blood drip onto the floor.
He slashed my stomach, deep into the fabric of my shirt.
I shrieked. I knew I should've worn my Nightfury costume, but it was too late now.
He slashed at me for as long as I could remember. I could feel the Air picking up from outside, driving me to the Spirit World.
But I didn't go anywhere. I was still lying on the ground, with the Joker cutting me with his blade. I looked at the ceiling pleadingly. The Dragon Spirit was nowhere in my mind.
I felt dead. I couldn't make my eyes move; all my limbs felt lifeless. Breathing hurt my lungs, even though I needed the air.
After what seemed like forever, Joker checked his watch. "Oh, look at the time. I guess I should be leaving now." He rearranged his coat, and threw the blade sejak my face. "Have fun, kiddo!" He laughed menacingly, then walked out of the shack and locked it.
Tears of shock fell from my eyes, but I couldn't feel them. I got on my knees and tried standing up, but fell down again.
"Grr..." I crawled toward the door, feeling the pain creep through my whole body. I lay face down on the cold floor, giving up.
I was thankful that Lian got out of here in time. It hurt too much thinking of her face staring at me in this form.
Faintly, I heard beeping noises. I craned my head, and saw a bomb, counting down.
20, 19, 18...
I gasped, crawling quickly toward the doors. I got on my knees and grabbed hold of the lock, trying to break it, but the Kryptonite took away my strength.
"For Chris," I muttered, pressing it. "And Anna and Vicky..."
The lock wouldn't budge, and the beeping was starting to get faster.
I sighed, and leaned against the door. I whispered a silent prayer, still hoping that the Spirit World would call me.
But all hope was lost. There was no way I was going to get out of here in just 10 seconds. I could sense Kryptonite set all around the room, taunting me.
"I Cinta you, Roy," I whispered, tears starting.
I stared at the detonator as the last numbers started coming up.
5, 4, 3, 2....
One.
