The team had definitely been wondering where Fin had been for the past 3 weeks, everyone but Artemis and Robin. So obviously when I walked (well, okay limped) into the cave, everyone began to freak out and bombarded me with questions. "Whoa. Whoa, slow down! I needed, a um, break. Yeah, yeah a break." No one seemed satisfied, so I continued, "You got a problem?" They dispersed and I smirked, wincing inside. I tried to make it to the sofa, kerusi panjang without falling, being somewhat successful but not exactly, because I did trip. "Aw, jeez."
"What's wrong. Seriously!" Wally continued to ask. "Oh, and did anda hear about that one girl in your city, um, Kyra Grayson?"
Underneath my mask my eyes widened, but I kept my pokerface on the outside. "Wally, how could I not? She's only the ward of Bruce Wayne, billionaire of Gotham. anda know, the city I live in?" I shook my head.
"Not to mention gorgeous." Everyone turned towards Artemis. "What? I'm not kidding. She's in my school, and every girl wants to be her. She's perfect! And somehow she makes it seem like she's wearing a different outfit everyday- even though we have to wear uniforms." She winked in my direction.
"Now that anda mention it, she was kind of hot- ow! That stung, Fin!" Wally rubbed his face where I had slapped him. I didn't want to hear what he thought of me.
"Oops. Sorry. Um, muscle spasm?" She got up and brushed herself off with Wally's support. "I'm fine..." But one lebih step and I proved that I did need help. Nathan rushed over and pulled my arm over his shoulder, wrapped his arm around my waist, and supported me to the couch. "Thanks."
"No problem... Kyra." This last part he whispered into my ear as everyone followed us into the room. I began coughing intensely to cover up the redness that now filled my cheeks.
How the hell did he know?
I was now crushed between many people trying to squeeze onto the small couch. In order to breathe I curled into a ball, as much as it hurt my leg. Eventually, I crawled out of the masses of my Friends and stood to go to the kitchen. I was in the mood- for cookies. I leaned most of my weight onto my unharmed leg and entered into a small maze of marble counter tops. I took out the ingredients for cookie dough and turned to my left to find a very eager Megan standing seterusnya to me. "Need some help?"
I smiled. "I don't need it..." Her face fell, but I wasn't done. "But I sure do want it!" She squealed and grabbed a large bowl from the cabinet above me. She then grabbed a wooden spoon and mixed everything together while I leaned back onto the counters. It was peaceful for a while.
I berkata a while. From the direction I had just come from came a whistling noise, something cutting through the wind. Cutting... I thought about the word, and recognized the signs in the nick of time. I ducked as a silver dagger flew towards where my neck had been exactly 5 saat ago. It clanged against the stone walls loudly. Everyone turned, and I whipped my head from where it had come.
Someone was trying to kill me.
And whoever it was, they knew me. Both identities.
