He did kill Palpatine as a sith always kills his master.
Vader and the Emperor would be the best master and apprentice as they were together for over 30 years .It was not just vaders armour that kept him alive but the dark side of the force sidious learnt the seceret form his old master then killed him. Vader could not kill sidious as sidious was keeping him alive which is why they were together so long. When vader killed sidious he also died as the dark force left him.
She would have gone with the children to Alderaan, protected sejak Bail Organa, away from Vader.
