characters with a great life story

Gintoki Sakata! before being the gin we all know and Cinta he had a very interesting past

He was orphaned in the times of the joui war and was found sejak Shouyo after hearing about a corpse eating demon (namely Gintoki scavenging things from corpses left sejak the war) Shouyo took Gintoki with him, then Gintoki trained and studied the way of the samurai along with Katsura,Takasugi and the other orphans Shouyo took in

after that with orders from the tendoshu the shogun had Shouyo arrested and the school burned leaving only the teachings of Shouyo to Gintoki and the others.

After a few years, along with Katsura, Takasugi and Sakamoto, Gintoki took up arms to rebel against the amanto and he was nicknamed the "Shiroyasha" because of his white clothing, white hair and his awesome swordsmanship, Sadly they Lost the war and with that Gintoki found it pointless to keep fighting against something they can't win against and also how this war was just taking away their Friends one after another, so he disappeared after the war was lost.... So then after that he became the Gintoki we all know and Cinta x3

He was a child prodigy. He had a father that abandoned him, his brother, and mother. Ed's mother even died when he was a little boy. He couldn't take the hardship of losing his mother. Of being alone. So he decided to try and bring her back to life with alchemy. "The science that made anda feel like anda were magic" as he said. Even though Al, his brother knew that they shouldn't bring their mother back to life, that it was forbidden, Ed didn't listen.
Ed Lost his leg in the alchemy process and Al Lost his whole body. In order to get his brother back Ed quickly gave up his arm to attach Al's soul onto a piece of armor.
And even though they gave so much to bring their mother back, they didn't even get her. All they got was a lump of Bones and organs. It wasn't even human.
Ed was so sad. He had taken his brothers body away. It was his fault that they were like this.
But even though all that happened Ed still had api, kebakaran in his eyes and reached forward. On a new goal to give his brother his body back.

And Ed's story isn't the only great thing about the anime. it's everything.

Hmm... gona have to think about this. I always considered the backstory to play a very small part in what made a character good (it ends and stops if they character has a good personality that was consistent and human)

Since I can't think of anyone, I will stretch the meaning of the question.

In that, this character has a backstory, but a whole series was devoted excessively to it. (it being a prequel)

Yumi from Ga-Rei-Zero (which is the prequel series)

Never have a felt so sad for a fictional character before. And I even seriously asked myself if I would turn out the same way if that had happened to me.


(note: yah, characters in this series seem to have abnormally large mouths; just try to ignore it XD)

he then left and sertai the mafia at age 8

XD Oh did i mention, he's a badass assassin?

No one told rin he was the SON OF SATAN until he was 15 yrs old,all the people he loves and trusted knew,but never bothered to tell HIM!?! I found that f#cked up,then it gets worse....satan POSSESS his adopted dad an exorcist (a paladin,the highest rank...) and tries to DRAG him to hell with him...rins adopted dad kills himself so he can save his adopted son,despite the fact the last words rin berkata and the cause of his possesion was "don't ever let me see u trying to act like my real dad ever again" he still tries to protect him.fujimoto (rins earth father) dies in the process of protecting the boy and his brother yukio tries to be a smart keldai and point a gun at his big brother,who I might add protected him froom bullies and helped him no.matter what when they were kids....he makes knew Friends then looses them all when they find out he's satans spawn,DESPITE the fact he saved the world TWICE....yeah,hows that for a life story?
