Sapphire is a very energetic and happy-go-lucky girl who loves to help her siblings and Friends no matter what they're going through. She is a very smart girl, but she doesn't give herself enough credit for it.
She isn't very popular, like Diamond, so when they met they instantly became friends, because they had so much in common: Being very caring for one another, being bullied and/or teased (now only sejak Jade, but it's become less of a nuisance), and finally, the craving to be able to fit in.
