Avenged Sevenfold’s ‘Nightmare’ Wins Loudwire’s Most Haunting Halloween Track Tournament
We started with 16 songs in our fan-voted Most Haunting Halloween Track tournament, and after four rounds the winner has been decided!
In the first round of the Treat Region, Avenged Sevenfold‘s “Nightmare” became a serious contender with a victory over Type O Negative’s “Black No. 1.” Moving on to the Quarterfinals, the song took out “Welcome to My Nightmare” by Alice Cooper. Things didn’t get any easier from there with a matchup against Iron Maiden’s “Fear of the Dark” next, but “Nightmare” sent that song to the grave, as well. The ultimate test came against Black Sabbath’s eerie “Black Sabbath.” With over 70 percent of the votes, Avenged Sevenfold ran away with the title.
“Nightmare” is a song about battling inner demons and feeling trapped in Hell. It’s the worst scenario that can be dreamt of, which is likely why the song dominated in this tournament. Congratulations to Avenged Sevenfold for “Nightmare” being the Most Haunting Halloween Track!
