Here's some stuff I remembered seeing:
Star-Lord And Thor Confirmed For \'Avengers: Infinity War\'
After the amazing and hilarious 2016 MTV Movie Awards, there are so many things to write about and discuss: the amazing hosts, the brand new trailer for
Suicide Squad, Star Wars: The Force Awakens finally getting some recognition by winning Best Picture, and plenty more. But it looks like what the Russo Brothers had said something that tops anything we saw at the awards show.
Captain America: Civil War is coming out in about three weeks and is supposedly the biggest Marvel Cinematic Universe film to date. Things are only going to get bigger as we move further down the Phase 3 slate to the (two) final Avengers films: Avengers: Infinity War Parts 1 and 2. Considering the MCU will be a decade old when the first part of the epic finale hits theaters, there will be a lot of characters to look forward to seeing all in one gigantic film. Marvel fans hope to see the MCU's two superhero teams — the Avengers and the Guardians of the Galaxy — cross over and defeat the mighty titan, Thanos.
It only makes sense to assume we will see the Guardians of the Galaxy in
Avengers: Infinity War since the Avengers are traveling to their realm and fighting the Guardians' main foe, Thanos. If we didn't see them, it would be like the X-Men traveling to Metropolis to defeat Darkseid and the Justice League just never showing up.
James Gunn himself — who directed the successful Guardians of the Galaxy back in 2014 — has repeated many times in many different interviews that we will not see the Guardians show up in Avengers: Infinity War. Gunn is usually a reliable source when it comes to talking about the fate of the MCU and usually is straight up with his answers, rather than hinting at them. For example, when asked if Thanos or any Infinity Stones would appear in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.2, he responded with a blatant "no."
However, in an interview ComicBook.com conducted with the Russo Brothers — directors of
Captain America: Winter Soldier, the upcoming Captain America: Civil War, and Avengers: Infinity War — at a press screening for their upcoming film Captain America: Civil War, it seems that James Gunn has not been telling the whole truth. Here's what Anthony Russo had to say:
"The movies are intended to be a culmination of everything that's happened before in the MCU so you don't want to get into spoilers... [Joe Russo and I] are both big fans of what James Gunn has done. Star-Lord is a fantastic character and Chris Pratt is an awesome performer, so you'd be very excited."
"Very excited," eh? Excited he'll be part of Infinity War?
"I'm excited to work with Thor... They're doing some really interesting stuff with Ragnarok and where he's gonna be at the beginning of Infinity War is gonna be a very interesting place and I think very profound. I think he's gonna have a real emotional motivation after that."
We all knew deep down that we were going to see Tony Stark meet the Guardians in space, and now we have some confirmation. It is meant to be, since Star-Lord kills Thanos with the Infinity Gems after Captain America stuns him with Mjornir and Spider-Man steals away Thanos's Infinity Gauntlet with his webs. Sounds pretty awesome, right?
On a serious note, let's talk about what these confirmations actually mean.
Flying into Avengers: Infinity Wars like
Avengers: Infinity War, this almost definitely confirms the appearance of the rest of the team succeeding Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.2, which most likely includes Gamora, Drax the Destroyer, Groot, Rocket Raccoon, and Mantis.
There is no way they would only bring Star-Lord, or only some of the members of the Guardians, into Avengers: Infinity War. This is the moment where we get to see the Avengers cross over with the Guardians of the Galaxy to defeat the villain we have been waiting to see for years on the big screen. Marvel always delivers on what the fans want and there is no reason why they will not do this with these two films.

I knew, you knew, we all knew inside that we would see Star-Lord (and the rest of the Guardians) appear in
Avengers: Infinity War, but it is just refreshing to get a confirmation. Now, how is the confirmation of Thor as big of a deal as Star-Lord's?
The confirmation of Thor's appearance is almost a huge spoiler.
Thor: Ragnarok's storyline is the destruction of the nine realms, and it was definitely a big possibility that Thor would not make it out of the movie, since he was (presumed) dead in the comic book series. That could possibly be the case with the movie, but there are two big reasons why they can't or really shouldn't do that:
One is that they have already played the fake death game so many times in the MCU — as they just did with Superman in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, and there are rumors of it happening also to Captain America in Captain America: Civil War — so they couldn't possibly do it with Thor. Also, if Thor doesn't make it out of the movie, it would mean Hulk wouldn't make it out either. Marvel would not dare to kill off Thor AND Hulk, especially in the same movie.
