Is freedom best?

It depends how to define freedom. I like freedom, I think freedom is important as a general standard, but I'm not so sure I'd very it as best. Freedom leads people to do some very crazy things, and has led plenty of countries to ruin. Freedom, in its purest form, is anarchy. It's a good idea as long as the freedoms of each individual are respected, but that is rarely the case. I'd say I'm "for" freedom in most cases, but not all.

But anda asked if its best. Why is equality not best? In its purest form, equality ensures that everyone is treated the same. There are harms to that system as well, but in doing so, no one feels oppressed to the whims of others. We could talk about the importance of justice, another strong value that allows an individual to feel that their voice is always heard. These are important values as well, and there are plenty lebih than I'm simply not coming up with at the moment. Why should freedom be considered best?

It depends really. The problem with complete freedom is that it allows people to do whatever they want with no restrictions whatsoever. They can justify anything. So anda have to have laws to protect people, which means anda don't have complete freedom. Then it can go to the extreme that governments will be able to justify things that usually would be seen as breaking the right to privacy with the excuse that they are trying to protect the people. For example, think of all the things Edward Snowden blew the whistle on in the US.
